Labor Day Weekend - Any FTA projects?

I got called out to a Forest Fire and spent 5 day's in the woods. However it was not a lost satellite weekend, I talked to a news van engineer about his satellite set up - and found out where they send feeds on AMC1.

Labor Day Weekend - Any FTA projects?

Depending on how busy shift is today, Saturday I'll be setting up the media room in the new house. I haven't finished casing the windows but I need a break from sawdust. I will be moving the *C dish from it's temporary position and also my moving my 76cm fixed dish. The motorized dish seems...

    Letter to charley

I think that would make it a huge sentence. Shorter sentences are usually easier to convey a thought(s). For example: "I am worried about the direction Dish Network is headed. The TiVo lawsuit and loss of distant locals are two recent examples. The MPEG4 delays and the limited...

Putting up my FTA satellite in the morning

Thanks - Maybe I wasn't clear on my question. My true south is 123W and I didn't skew it when I set it up. But if I set the correct skew for 83W (my latitude is 122W) and aimed it at the 83W bird (with that being 0 reference) would that work? Basically, isn't an arch an arch on these...

Putting up my FTA satellite in the morning

I installed my SG2100 the night before last and finished up with coverage from 123W to 79W with a quicker learning curve (by following instructions and reviewing the posts on this forum - thanks all for indirectly helping me and advice.) My antenna mast is plum aimed at G10R in the PNW is...

Putting up my FTA satellite in the morning

Well I waited until the afternoon I picked up an inch and a galv. half pipe, heavy duty conduit for an Antenna Mast. I can't recall the wall thickness but it seemed rather stout. I dug an 18" hole about 10" in diameter. I wil be putting my 36" dish with SG-2100 motor on it. I'll be moving...

new house so its like new FTA

Ok, and a little luck of the Irish. You can adjust it (plumb) with the bolts. The inside diameter of the pole is larger than the outside of the fence post.

new house so its like new FTA

The Rubbermaid tub with concrete idea sounds great - it might push the definition of portable a bit (66 pounds per bag of concrete.) I had a thought about driving a steel fence post (the green barbed wire type) well into the ground, place the steel pipe over the fence post (below ground...

GeoSatPro 90cm and Fortec 90cm Dish

West Coast Suppliers I need (OK want) a 1 / 1.2 meter or bigger dish but live in the Seattle area and shipping kills me. It seems like most suppliers are a few hundred shipping bucks away. Any retailer suggestions? Or in BC?

Try adding 8 degrees to your elevation. I had to do that on my 75E. Then work your mag reading from there slowwwwwwly. I pointed at the 111.1. Feel free to PM me about this.... I'm enjoying my *C

    A how to question

I read a quote from the comments section of Lyngsat "I couldn't enjoy this hobby without this site!!" I guess people see it as a hobby to find FTA stations and then they get to publish their find. I guess they are thinking they are discovering a new star or something. My hobby/enjoyment...

    Building a New House

I'm building a house (I'm the owner builder) on five acres in Western Washington. I am looking for ANY advice the group would give to make my house media friendly. What are some of the things that you would like to have in your house now that could have easily been built in when constructed...

    Roof Dish Mount Only Option?

How about placing a cemented in galvanized metal pole right in front of the 4x4 fence post and have it mounted there? Is that an esthetics issue?

    running speaker wires through attic

Yep, check on a permit I'm building my house and Low Voltage wiring is part of the Electrical Permit. Washington State runs it's Electrical Permits through L&I. Low voltage should be run at least a foot from house current. (My Electricians words, not mine.)

    *Choice signal strength

Well that worked out great, Thanks a lot. I actually tuned my DishNet to the 110, and lined bothe dishes up. I was about 8 degrees off on my elevation. It called for 30.6 I cranked it up to 38 and it hit. I'm getting great numbers. It's raining like hell here, and I'm shooting between cedar...
