    General Viewsat question

I don't actually even have a motor on this one. So I guess if I am aimed at 82, then I have to move the dish to the right a little if I am looking at the back of the dish itself, or standing behind it.

    General Viewsat question

Wait a second, does it matter that it says 90.9 under Nimiq 1 ??? Thats what it says.

    General Viewsat question

SatAdam, are you using a viewsat extreme also?

    General Viewsat question

Thats what I was referring to, the ID code. When I am on Nimiq1 right now it shows Nimiq 2 @82 on the top of the screen. My only concern now, is if this ID thing is reliable or not based on what IceBerg said about the frequencies getting confused.

So how would I know then?

    General Viewsat question

So I guess I have it wrong then. I was trying to pick up the few FTA's on 91 that some other members were telling me about. My IRD was set to Nimiq 1,2 at 90.9 but when the signal locked in, the black writing at the top said Nimiq 2 @82.... So I do have the wrong bird locked in ????

    General Viewsat question

To any viewsat extreme users out there. A general question about satellite signal measurement. In the menu where you check for satellite strength on a certain bird, after the signal comes in there is black text that appears right at the top of the screen of a satellite ID. Is this the...

    Scanning Nimiq @91

Maybe I was getting confused with the transponder frequency being 11811. Not the LNB.
  9. M

    Scanning Nimiq @91

Well maybe thats what I am doing wrong, on the incorrect satellite or something. Ya that 11811 is on there as the LNB frequency. I can change it for the scanning, but it doesn't retain it.

    Scanning Nimiq @91

I did save it whenever it asked me to, yes. I just don't understand what I am doing wrong. IF I had this thing aimed at 82 Nimiq2 instead of 91, would it still show a signal when I am on the 91 menus with the different frequency? I did notice before with my sat meter that there was a few birds...

    Scanning Nimiq @91

Thanks to you all. Iceberg, I changed the satellite freq. like you suggested. I put the IRD onto the Nimiq 1,2 @ 90.9 and started moving the dish. Wasn't long before I got a good signal that was steady on that frequency. The biggest problem was that when I went out of the menu the frequency...

    Scanning Nimiq @91

You said there wasn't much there but some audio and previews? Is it even worth climbing the ladder over? Maybe there are some others that have good FTA channels to offer? Sorry, I am so new to all this. Just trying to make use of the dish thats out there already, or I will just take it down.

I know that, this was just a pic I took off of the manual Iceberg. I know its set somewhere else. I just tried to find you a pic of the menu. Sorry I should have specified.

    Scanning Nimiq @91

I see the merge, thanks Iceberg. I think the area I am getting confused with is the transponder frequencies. If I start with that one freq. you stated, 11250, and I get a stronger signal, will the IRD then know that the signal is the strongest at that freq? For example, when I change it to...

    Scanning Nimiq @91

Does anyone know if when I am scanning for a signal using a viewsat extreme and an old directv dish, should I be using a specific transponder frequency? I think the default was 11811 or something, but I wasn't getting anything on there. i didn't change it for scanning because I didn't think I...

    Scanning Nimiq @91

Sorry, its an 18" dish, viewsat extreme, Whatever channels are available on Nimiq 1,2 @ 91 is what I am looking for. I just don't know if my old directv dish has the correct LNB on it, or if its damaged. From what I have read it needs to be a KU-band, circular standard 11250mhz LNB to...

    Scanning Nimiq @91

LNB problem? Hi guys, I have been trying for days to get a satellite signal from the 90.9 bev bird. I am using my old Directv satellite dish thats about 10 years old. Its been mounted on the outside of my house for a long time not being used. My problem is that my signal meter really...

    Transponder 4 @ 119

Ok guys, I have checked into this a little further. I disconnected the main satellite cable and got a new short one and brought a TV upstairs near the dish. I disconnected it and noticed that there was a little discolouration on the cable output of the LNB. There is two outputs available, the...

    Transponder 4 @ 119

I tried clearing the matrix, like I said the signal is strong at trans.11 @ 119 so I think its aligned properly. Are these connections the ones outside that are the main concern? I will check them all, the ones inside are fine. Nothing has really changed though so I am a bit confused as to why...

    Transponder 4 @ 119

Its a 301 model, with the dish500 twin. The other wierd thing is that with this software, when you calibrate and do the check switch it doesn't say "All" where the transponder title used to be. It doesn't even say "transponder" anymore. It just says about the polarity being ODD on both. Does...

    Transponder 4 @ 119

Any idea why I would be getting a signal strength of over 100 on satellite 119 @ transponder 11, but zero at transponder 4 ??
