The box does not do the decoding, it all depends on the software and codec you use. Right now there aren't any mpeg4 streams you can get, I think what it means is you can stream mpeg4 over internet/lan.

I just did a test with my Satellite Finder, if the light gets dim it's vertical, if the light is bright it's horizontal. Right when I start the scan it gets dim but 1 second later it got bright again and stayed like that through v and h.
