Voom and Dish Network on one dish

Al is right. The Voom LNB is a DirecTV dual LNB. It uses the same signaling as a Dish Network Legacy dual LNB. I've used one output for Voom 61.5 and Echostar 61.5. Make sure you run a check switch on the Dish receiver to clear out any saved switch matrixes since you won't have a switch in...

    New 811 install...where's the beef?

DTV on the mitsubishi defaults to component. You have to actually change the menu settings to utilize it for RGBHV. Otherwise it is just another component. Make sure the 811 is set to 1080i.

Is there a device to test for OTA HD signals instead of putting up antenna first?

Install an antenna at the top of the hill and run high quality RG11. Heck, even RG6 would probably work. This is how it was done in the olden days...and you can bet there is plenty of digital coming out of LA.

    Dish 6000 (8PSK and 8VSB) for sale!

Yes, I actually purchased it for an additional HD monitor that didn't have DVI. However, I replaced that monitor with a new Samsung set today and sold the older set. Now I'm going to be using DVI with the 811.

    New Samsung set, need advice.

Awesome Link! I also found that by activating "movie" mode, it seems to reduce or disable the SVM/VSM.

    New Samsung set, need advice.

That's what I meant, my mistake. However, the actual form factor of the connector is HDMI, yet it handles DVI and HDMI signaling. Anyone know the service menu codes for newer Samsung sets?

    New Samsung set, need advice.

New Question: How can VSM be disabled on the Samsung sets? Anyone know the specific circuitry to disable or how to identify it?

    New Samsung set, need advice.

I just purchased an additional HDTV. It is a new samsung RPTV that has a DVI-I port that is shared with HDMI. Where can I find a cable that has one end as DVI-I and the other as HDMI?

Need Advice: Keep DP, Get a 721, or Go to DTV?

I dumped the TiVo for Dish. Forget the goofy interface and childish sounds...I find other things more impressive. Dish Network offered me an excellent deal with excellent equipment. The only think I liked about the TiVo vs. PVR 508 was the dual tuners. Well, the 721 and 522 have that. I'm...

HDTV no no longer seems good enough

I read about that earlier. It was streamed via Internet2, right? That's a helluva backbone (AT&T is good too ;) ) It's inefficient and the improvements wouldn't even be perceivable beyond a certain point.

Some installers taking DVI cable from Voom box and selling on EBAY

You stated the installer claimed you wouldn't get any OTA stations ("I've done 4 installs today and none of the OTA has worked"). You never said you asked for it not to be installed. Perhaps you should explicitly explain your position before you explicitly attack my post.

    PQ on 6000 vs. 811

Just do a search on these forums. It's a question that is answered quite often. If you have a CRT-based RPTV or direct-view, there is no reason to use DVI-I. You aren't likely to see any improvement (unless the component outputs are particularly poor, which they aren't on the 6000 and 811)...

    PQ on 6000 vs. 811

It's always best to begin a new thread with a new question. However, I believe the 6000 is an excellent product if you don't need DVI. The 811 is still a great product, and I do own one and can recommend it as well. Whatever you can get for the cheapest. Although the 811's inability to...

    PQ on 6000 vs. 811

What are your opinions regarding the picture quality via component on the 6000 vs. the 811? It seems to me that the 6000 picture is a bit grainier and a bit brighter...I had to adjust contrast and brightness to a lower level to compensate and that eliminated some of the excessive grain. The...
