    Use your voice

Not in my town. On my 53" HDTV, you can see the compression artifacts of Dish, but with cable, you get a fuzzy picture, rolling lines and just a whole lot of general picture "noise". And this is from a direct connection from the street to a new house!

I'm sorry, but there is NO way I'm going back to cable! Around here, even w/ "digital cable", the first 99 channels are still analog and they look like crap! I also like NOT having to watch the screaming local car dealer commercials the local cable company inserts into all the channels :)

One man's protest: No HD, then No NBC

Dude, it's the Olympics! You aren't missing anything :)

    Should I? Can I?

Perhaps I misread your post, but I think you only get ESPN, TNT, and the 2 HDNet channels for $10/month. Am I mistaken?

    Should I? Can I?

The CR said we haven't been with them long enough (we've had it for 3 months). :( Does anyone have a link to this promo's details? thanks! Jim

    Should I? Can I?

Are these "troubles" little quirks or major shortcomings? My main concern is good HD picture quality. I can use my TV's NTSC tuner for those local signals.

Has Dish dropped the 1-year contract for HD upgrades?

I've only had Dish SD w/ four 301 receivers for a few months. I got it under the DHA plan: free equipment and no commitment. Do you think Dish would trade out one of my 301's for an 811?

    Should I? Can I?

I have had a 4 receiver (301) SD setup for a few months. I got it under the DHA plan: Free equipment, free installation and no commitment. I REALLY like Dish's service! I've had a HD-capable TV for years. I just got a Samsung HDTV receiver for $180 for local HD. My local HD support SUCKS! Most...

    How old is this remote?

It works perfectly and only has minor wear. I'll try to get $10 for it on eBay. Thanks! Jim

    How old is this remote?

Thanks guys! The person who sold me the kit said that they accidentally threw in that old UHF remote, but would send me the right one. I offered to send the old remote back, but they said they had no use for it. I don't need it either. Anyone know what it might be worth?

    How old is this remote?

Then why is the newer remote pictured on the kit box? And why do some of the auctions at eBay have a picture of the contents of the kit, which includes the newer looking remote?

    How old is this remote?

I bought a 1 week old ir-to-uhf remote kit, but this remote looks OLD! :(

How often should receiver retrieve sat. info?

Thanks! We leave all 4 of our 311's on all the time, but it seems that the one in our bedroom downloads info more often than the others.

How often should receiver retrieve sat. info?

It seems like the 311 receiver in my bedroom throws up the "retrieving info from sat." screen at least once every couple of days. How often should I get this message?

OK, not that you've heard SIRIUS you going to get the service?

I just tuned to Alt Nation only to hear a friggin' loon talking over the music just until the lyrics started :PUKE:!!!!!!!! XM is CHEAPER, has a wider playlist and the tiny Roady KILLS the HUGE Sirius form factor (not to mention that the Roady can match just about any cars' interior lights)...

    Need EXPERT advice (diplexer/combiner) :)

I'd say there are probably a LOT of people that have either an antenna or 'life-line' cable (channels 2-13 @ $10/month, or something similar) in addition to their satellite system to receive local channels. The multiswitch DirecTv uses makes it super simple to supply that antenna or cable signal...

Just added Sirius to the car

I had Sirius, but switched to XM for a number of reasons. XM is cheaper. XM did away with commercials on music channels. XM has a much deeper playlist (repeats on Sirius were driving me crazy). XM's equipment is smaller (I have 2 of the tiny Roady's!). XM has a slightly better chance of...

    Advantage of dual tuner ?

With the DHA plan, you have to pay an extra $5/month for local channels even if you can't get them :(

    Need EXPERT advice (diplexer/combiner) :)

No, I don't :( I thought I did, but after talking to my installer, it looks like once again, Dish has some screwed-up system that forces you to use a bunch of diplexers to combine your antenna signal with your sat signal.

    Need EXPERT advice (diplexer/combiner) :)

Guy's, the antenna signal should be combined into the sat signal with the multiswitch, shouldn't it? Don't I just need 4 diplexers to split the signals at the TV's? I could actually get away with splitting the antenna signal out at just 3 TV's. The wife and daughter watch the shows on prime-time...

    Need EXPERT advice (diplexer/combiner) :)

I need a four diplexers to split the analog NTSC UHF/VHF antenna signal from my satellite signal. What frequency range should the diplexer say it can pass? The ones I've seen all show one side passing LNB power. How much should they cost? I've seen them in the store for $20 each, but I seen them...

    I'm Pissed!

Thansk JohnDoe#2! What is required to 'convert' TV 1 to UHF? Is it just a change in the user on-screen menu of the receiver? How many different 'frequencies' or channels can you select so that a pair of UHF remotes for one receiver wont interfere with 2 UHF remotes from a second receiver? And...

Mistake to combine antenna and sat signal?

Thanks for the replies! I will be combining normal NTSC TV signals from the antenna with the satellite signal, if it matters.
