    Seems to be an issue that happens after upgrades on the hopper. Dish has been out at least 5 times. So what happens is the local ota channels go away and the joeys have guide info but no actual program video. You can change channels etc but no program video. The tv hooked to the hopper still...

    HR20-700 is a very good DVR

    nothing pisses me off more than not being able to receive all of my ota channels. Ive been contacting directv about this but cant make any headway. they need to update their channel database to reflect all channels within 75 miles of any zipcode so that you can receive all channels in your area.

    I believe the 30 day window only applies to new customers, or so I was told by directv. had I been a new customer I most certainly would have canceled.

    thats a completely different situation. Im still waiting on someone to point out a law that says changing your service address is illegal. I know it is against the terms of service.

    ok, we are talking about two different issues. the original poster states that he would like to keep his shows on the external drive in the event of a hd dvr failure. from what I understand the shows will not be accessible if you plug the external drive into a different hd dvr.

    my understanding is that if you install the external drive on a new system you will not be able to retain the shows you recorded.

    nothing here either, I have connection and all of that and can see files on my computer but when I press the vod button nothing happens.
