Concerning the clips, I do remember reading in previous Dish Tech manuals NOT to space the clips EVENLY apart as this could cause a problem. However, in the most recent tech manual I can find no mention of this. It just says they should be spaced 18 - 24 inches apart.

The reason the tech said it had to be hooked up is because corporate is DEMANDING that techs connect ALL receivers to either a phone line or internet if available. Techs are being written up and threatened with termination over this issue.

I've mentioned this before in other threads but not too long ago Dish cracked the whip on techs for installing a 722 when a 622 was called for. I don't know about everywhere but for my area we have plenty of 622s.

Zero. Only some of the major cities are mirrored on 129 and 61.5. It's all about bandwidth and the current sats don't have enough to mirror all the HD locals. Now, with futher advancements in technology with future satellites, who knows. But that doesn't help your friend right now.
