    LG GGC-H20L "Super MultiBlue"

This is true. I think Sunshine was BD+ if I recall. The movie totally sucked by the way :)

SlySoft's AnyDVD HD is fantastic. They publish updates very frequently and it makes all my expensive hardware and Blu-Ray (and a few HD DVDs) that I Bought fair and square work flawlessly. I'll eventually get an HDCP capable card and projector but until then it's a godsend. I've received a...

    LG GGC-H20L "Super MultiBlue"

Well I got around to installing SlySoft AnyDVD HD. This little gem is a godsend. All the stupid workarounds I've been trying just to watch DVDs we already own are now no longer necessary - I can now use PowerDVD for both BluRay/HDDVD and DVD and not have a complicated sequence of workarounds...

The exact opposite IS what I'm doing :) I guess I didn't explain very well. Anyhoo yeah I agree 100% the computer should do a much better job of scaling - and does. We noted a marked improvement with Nero Showtime scaling up to 720p on the few DVDs we've watched so far. The problem...

    LG GGC-H20L "Super MultiBlue"

The reason I want to keep the resolution fixed is because the nVidia driver for some reason doesn't allow adjusting the display (size/position) at the lowest resolution (720x480) and when fed to my projector the display is slightly off (not much but enough to be annoying). None of the other...

    LG GGC-H20L "Super MultiBlue"

I found something else new - PowerDVD Ultra isn't the greatest for DVDs. It forces the resolution down to 720x480, the aspect ratio is slightly off, and it doesn't completely use the entire screen (almost but not quite). A great solution is Nero Showtime as it allows any resolution and almost...

    LG GGC-H20L "Super MultiBlue"

That's good info thanks! Right now I'm using the component feed anyway but it's good to know I can use my otherwise superb video card with a 1080P HDMI projector (next Christmas...?)

    LG GGC-H20L "Super MultiBlue"

PowerDVD Ultra had problems with "Enemy of the State" on Blu-Ray initially for some reason, but after a few restarts (of PowerDVD not the PC) it just fixed itself. So it's not perfectly bug free, but that's the only frustration from PowerDVD itself so far. One thing I don't like about the...

We decided to get this drive for our home theatre PC and I'm very pleased with our decision over a standalone player. It came bundled with CyberLink DVD Ultra that worked fine out of the box. We only have a 720P projector but still the picture is fantastic. I'm not crazy about the CyberLink...

    2 motors, 1 receiver

I'm doing something similar with my other hardware. I have a really really good Sony SVHS deck with lots of inputs that I've been using as a video switcher. It also has a good (reasonably powerful) CH3/4 modulator that sends the selected signal to the rest of the TVs in the house (we're only...

CW600S Premium LNB switching is odd

Now that I'm in the process of adding a new dish (fixed for now but may motorize it) I'm finding the CW600S Premium receiver LNB switching odd; so much so that I have trouble trusting it is actually doing what I've set it to do. Here's the scenario: Motorized Fortec 90cm w/QPH-031 on LNB1...

How many here will be HDTV ready if FTA HD receiver debuts ?

HD ready here. I have an HD projector in the home theatre and plan on getting a Blu-Ray player when the prices come down a bit. The DVB world HD box that PSB mentions is a possibility for me as well.

Upgrading: Two dishes, or a new motor?

Yeah I know it's overkill if I don't motorize the 1m dish (if I don't it will be fixed at G10R) but I've had such stellar results with the one on my 90cm dish especially considering I'm brushing the top of some trees that are in the way. If cost isn't a consideration, any recommendations on the...

Upgrading: Two dishes, or a new motor?

The QPH-031 rocks. It is far superior to the el-cheapo that came with my 1m Gospell dish that I'm still trying to peak on G10R with no success. I'm thinking of replacing it with (another) QPH-031 even if it is way more expensive.

    2 motors, 1 receiver

Is there any convenient way to control two different motors with one receiver? I have a 90cm Fortec on an HH90 and a 1m Gospell I'd like to put on an SG2100 and replace the crappy LNB that came with the Gospell with a QPH-031 like I have on the Fortec. Would it be too obtuse to control two...

Upgrading: Two dishes, or a new motor?

I have an HH90 that I thought was posessed a little while ago. As soon as I shortened the cable between the receiver and the motor the demon was vanquished (thanks for the tip PSB :) ).

    HH90 motor going nuts

I usually get stuff from Canadian companies (or at least shipped from this side of the border) because I've had huge delays with some things sitting at Canadian customs (another rant :) ). The Chieta switches are alot bigger but I don't know if they are REALLY any more heavy duty or not than...

    HH90 motor going nuts

Unfortunately no I didn't have any spare switches. I ordered a couple of the big Chieta switches on eBay and hopefully they should be here by Tuesday or Wednesday. Until then I have a big 1m dish in the corner of my living room :) Oh and yeah I get the same programming on AMC5 regardless...

    HH90 motor going nuts

I think Tron may have been right. When I swing the motorized Fortec to AMC5 I get a signal regardless which LNB I select (1=Ln,2=Circ) and the same on Echostar 3. I even get a signal on 3 and 4 with nothing connected.

    HH90 motor going nuts

Well luckily it was just the cable, between the grounding coupler and the motor input. I replaced it with a much shorter one and it's working fine now (haven't checked the new Gospell LNB yet though). It's actually working better now in that it doesn't ever wander off once in a couple dozen...

    HH90 motor going nuts

I'll do that next time  It was cold and dark and I was in a hurry. Hopefully I didn't fry my new LNB although it's an el cheapo so if I did I'll chalk it up to lessons learned (a.k.a. "Don't be stupid next time" :) ).

    HH90 motor going nuts

Thanks PSB. I'll check my cables tomorrow to be sure. I spoke a little too soon though. My HH90 is still doing the same thing now even with the LNB and cable disconnected. I think I'll power down the receiver and unplug it for a good minute or so just to remove all doubt...

    HH90 motor going nuts

I got a 1m Gospell dish and universal LNB off of eBay, but as soon as I hook up the LNB to LNB3 on the switch and try to position the 90cm Fortec that is on the motor, the HH90 motor goes bananas like it's constantly trying to reset itself, and other times like its nudging very slowly. I hope I...

    Digiwave Dish any good?

My next door neighbour pulled out a big 39" DigiWave dish he bought in Toronto a while back and is able to get G10R strong. My 39" Gospell dish and universal LNB should be here Tuesday or Wednesday. Kinda like keeping up with the Joneses except they're more interested in the Chinese feeds :)...
