Finally figured this out. Originally I read Brian's guide to new MIO users in this forum. On the backup procedure using a HDD states the drive must be formatted in NTFS so I assumed the USB drive also needed to be formatted in NTFS. Finally I tried reformatting in FAT32, bingo, I got my backup...

I am having problems creating my backup image with the plugin Backup Suite. The MIO will not recognize the usb thumb drive. The thumb drive has been formated in NTFS. I have tried a folder with backupstick, folder with zip file backupstick and backupstick.ext. No luck, what am I doing wrong?

Brian, thank you for the reply. The USALS motor is Stab brand, about a year old. I do not see the usual mechanical East/West buttons on this one. I will check it but so far everything appears to be operating just fine. I love the Edision, very nice receiver. Thanks!

And, it does cause concern of how a USALS motor can run off the power that starts at a wall wart. Good question for Brian, is this receiver robust enough to drive a USALS or should I consider using a separate stb to do the grunt work?
