    Tried everything I know, but....

When I re-upped with E* I got the locals included and did not even think to ask if they'd be in HD. I know, never assume anything especially with E* :D Pepper, yep, I'm in Fairhope. I don't have any rabbit ears to try but I went one step further a few minutes ago. I connected the OTA...

    Tried everything I know, but....

yep, the analog is set to "off air"....I think I've checked that 100 times if I've checked it once :) I happened by a Dish outlet on Friday and stopped in to talk to them concerning the problem. First of all, I'm surprised that Dish (I re-established my Dish account online) didn't use a...

    Tried everything I know, but....

I don't think I can afford her NOT being a keeper :D I've not been using any diplexers in trying to get an OTA signal to the 211....straight coax runs only and I've been using new R6 to boot. Authorization's not the problem either as I'm using the 211 for all my HD and SD programming, other...

    Tried everything I know, but....

yep, I know. I've tried powering it with the power injector that came with it, to no avail, and tried powering it with a ps 9370, again to no avail. The 211, unlike the Voom receiver and most D* receivers, does not have built in power on the 8BSV antenna in port, from what I understand, which...

    Tried everything I know, but....

Rick, zip is 36532 I'm sure bumfuddled here....especially since I'm watching HD locals on Voom receiver though I undertand Voom receiver has powered OTA antenna connection and the ViP doesn't. I'm playing with both a SS1000 and a SS2000 Winegard Square Shooter, btw, and can't get either...

    Tried everything I know, but....

tearing it all down and trashing it:mad: I have a Winegard Square Shooter OTA antenna (SS2000-the amplified one) that I cannot finagle at all to pick up my local HD channels. I've tried various amplifiers (Radio Shack, Winegard PS-9370) and configurations ad the result is always the...

3rd receiver (or is it the 4th?)

I think I've got it straight now. I own the 301 and 322 and am leasing the 211 and 625 so I'd be okay whichever way I use the 2 that I own. They sure like making things complicated with all this :)

3rd receiver (or is it the 4th?)

DishSub, Thanks for that info. I guess that decided for me to use the 301 along side by 211 as that'll give me the 4 tuners. I hope they'll cut me some slack for the 322 in my RV. Not that E* or D* listens to reason, a case could be made that when we're in the RV, all tuners at the house...

    DPP 44 installation

It seems like I get one set of questions answered, it opens Pandora's Box on yet more :) I've got a DPP 44 coming and, being the neophyte that I am with this stuff, I'm trying to get a feel for what I'm gonna be doing before I do it and I couldn't find anything that fits my installation like...

3rd receiver (or is it the 4th?)

Okay, gotcha. :) In the "for what it's worth" department, I've been looking at DPP 44 switches at eBay and, if you're not in a big hurry for the switch, you can get one for as low as $60 or $70. I could get one right away for around $90-$100 and thats NIB. The other switches are available...

3rd receiver (or is it the 4th?)

One more thing.....are the DP44 and DPP44 the same thing? I know the 'DP' and 'DPP' mean Dish Pro and Dish Pro Plus but I don't recall seeing that difference when looking at the switches before.

3rd receiver (or is it the 4th?)

One more after thought......is adding this other receiver going to mess me up with my RV set-up? I have a Dish 322 receiver for it that I bought and it's a 2 tuner model.

3rd receiver (or is it the 4th?)

Thanks much, ya'll. Yeah, they're sure proud of that DPP 44, aren't they? The cable runs aren't that much of a big deal for me as I've still got all my wiring from D* and that's the way it was set up with them. Didn't I see something about powered and non-powered versions of those switches...

3rd receiver (or is it the 4th?)

After looking through everything I could find here, and not being able to find it exactly, I thought I'd ask: First of all, my current equipment: Dish 1000, ViP 211, and 625 receivers. My scenario: I'm wanting to add a 2nd receiver (either a 301 or 322) to the same location that I have...

    ViP 211, OTA, HD locals

Mine came with a Winegard Square Shooter which I believe is the SS-1000, non amplified. It appears that whoever it was that told me the 211 receiver doesn't have a built in amp was right as there was nothing I could do to get the OTA channels, period, which I don't understand. The Square...

    ViP 211, OTA, HD locals

I tried a Radio Shack amplifier and it did absoltely nothing so I took it back and got my money back. I hooked up my old Voom receiver and am now happily watching OTA HD again though not pleased about the three boxes stacked up like cordword but hey, I'll take it until I get it handled another...

    ViP 211, OTA, HD locals

Thanks, Jim. I'm a good 15-20 miles away from the closest tower and 25 + from the rest. You wouldn't think that'd be the case being in the part of Alabama that's only 60 miles wide :) I had seen that preamp when researching all this mess and that's when I got to scratching my head about the...

    ViP 211, OTA, HD locals

okay, one more related question: I'm confused a bit. Do I need a preamp or an amplifier? Anyone have any ideas as to what would work best with a Winegard Square Shooter and E*'s ViP211?

    ViP 211, OTA, HD locals

Gary, thanks once again :) OSU-Thanks to you too. This is the first I've heard that and it makes good sense since what I can see with a direct OTA feed to my TV shows good reception and when I look at 'em connected through the 211, they look like crap. Learn something new every day :)

Anybody get their HD rebate yet?

I got the $200 over 10 months and had to email them. They said it'd start showing up this month but I've been lied to before
