When Was the 4th of July First Celebrated?

My guess is that it was first celebrated on July 4th.

    How about that Wii Fit?

Hahaha... it probably is too much for Nintendo to handle. That's probably why they didn't put any diet-type programs in there. But most BG monitors allow a USB connector. I don't think they would be opening themselves up to anything terrible just by making some kind of connector to the Wii...

    How about that Wii Fit?

I agree! I'd like the one for type 2 diabetes management (because I am type 2). I think 'diabetic darts' would be fun. You need to match the units with the carbohydrate intake. Maybe they could come up with a special controller that will hook up to your BGM and keep track of your blood sugar...

    How about that Wii Fit?

The problem is that Body Mass Index (BMI) is the calculation that Wii Fit uses to determine your level of fitness. If you are doing weight training in combination with endurance training, then your body composition will render any BMI calculation invalid. Muscle weighs more than fat. Wii Fit...

    anyone else get leopard yet?

Safari crashed yesterday on Leopard. Frostwire likes to stay open... Like I said, hold off on the upgrade.

Is RTFM considered a casual, non-offensive expression now? Just wondering... Could this be an ID-10T error? ;)

    Assasins Creed now out!

IGN reports that there are worse frame rates on the PS3 version. I was considering getting a PS3 soon, and since I already have a 360 wanted to figure out which version of AC I would pick up. Based on IGN's review, I would get the 360 version.

    wireless routers

If you plan on getting a router, do not get a Linksys WRT54GS(Wireless-G with Speedbooster)! I am having trouble with mine dropping the internet connection very frequently. I have to plug it and unplug it to get it to work properly... a pain in the ass. Nothing wrong with the DSL modem, I've...

    Vista - Yes or No?

I agree with your assessment. Vista is an OS, not an app. However, you used the "you possessive" instead of the contraction "you're" meaning "you are." I've dished poorly written diatribes also lambasting grammar only to have my response picked apart by someone more acquainted with skilled...

    anyone else get leopard yet?

I'm not actually all that thrilled with Leopard. It came with my iMac 24" on an upgrade disk. I was excited to install the new OS. Not only did it take forever, but certain iLife '08 apps were broken until I installed an update. iPhoto crashes/freezes when I scroll through certain photo sets...

    Considering a Mac questions...

I was a PC-zealot for a long time. I would laugh at the prospect of buying a Mac. Games were certainly one of the major reasons why I would never buy a Mac, and frankly, I think this is the one category where they need to pick up major points. Part of it has to do with how they divide their...

Chinese HD DVD players still possible this year

I think it will be a combination of features in a box that could make the adoption of HDDVD possible. Look at popular manufacturer APEX, whose DVD players were widely bought because of region-free coding, and they could read any mpeg-1/2 without being formatted to a dvd/vcd/svcd compliant spec...

Just how ignorant is the "average" console buyer.....Very!

My Dish Network installers hooked me up via component, but then did not make the appropriate changes in the menu system to view content in 720p or 1080i. You think they would know the difference! Most people do not understand what HD is, how you get it, or if they even have it. Others think SD...

Target will announce BR support tomorrow

a lower price for comparable technology. That's all. And that should be enough. If everyone bought into HDDVD, the studios would follow. The CE industry would follow too. Doesn't seem that hard to understand. I'm pretty sure BD will win, but that doesn't mean I think it's winning for good...

Target will announce BR support tomorrow

The CD-R to DVD-R comparison is way off when comparing HD-DVD to BD. 700MB versus 4.37-9GB? CD format would store 8-17% of the content of a DVD (different percentages taking into account single and dual layer). 15-30GB versus 25-50GB(100 max)? Whereas the majority of HD-DVD discs are now...

    40 GB/Sec Internet?

It would be sort of pointless though. Where could you download anything that would be able to take advantage of your speed? Aren't you limited by the uploader?

Rumor: $399 PS3 On The Way

I still think the PS3 spec is way overdone. If the paging file size isn't all that big and I'm not planning on doing online DL's, I think a 2-4GB flash card should handle the trick for all the necessary saves and temporary storage. Wouldn't that reduce production costs(or at least shave some...

Target will announce BR support tomorrow

BR may be on the rise, but the truth is that HD adoption is still slow. I don't doubt the consumer's ability to make the choice that will screw them. For me it's all about cost-benefit ratio. Right now HD-DVD provides this. It's all about movies. I don't care what the disc capacity is, as...

Rumor: $399 PS3 On The Way

I don't see why they need such a big HD in the first place. Are the page-file sizes large? I wouldn't be interested in doing big downloads to the PS3. If they could even make a version that uses a couple of gigs of flash memory, i'd be happy. The large HD is such a wasted spec, at least for me.

Rumor: $399 PS3 On The Way

I don't think it's a terrible idea. Including the PS2 chipset is a waste of money. The software emulation should work just fine (but I'm curious to know if they are actually saving money this way since they will have to get coders to write individual code for a massive library of games). Who...

A plea to Dish to do the right thing with Mpeg4 HD

While they are at it, they should compress every channel to MPEG-4 so they can offer more programming in SD and HD.

    PS3 price drop effect

This is a definite possibility bordering certainty. There was a big controversy over European units having limited compatibility with the PS2. Sony manufactured PS3s without the additional PS2 chipset because emulation would be a cheaper option. Sony really needs to cut costs to raise their...
