It won't break it, but if you leave static images on for long periods of time you can experience burn-in, but for most people that is not really a problem. On the video card front im not sure, but someone else will definately be able to help.

I have no heard of such a thing, but that does not mean it doesn't exist. If it does I would imagine its relatively expensive and it would prolly be better to find a reciever that matches the output on your pansat.

I am not sure if this is correct, but it is my understanding that they will give you a credit of $100 for buying a DVR. I think this applies to HD-Tivos as well but if you buy a SD-Tivo for $99 then it is free. Not sure if they charge tax.

I have a Directivo HD-DVR and have been gettin a lot of audio dropouts. All of my signal strengths are in the 90's and have clear weather. I have it hooked up through a toslink cable. Any suggestions on how to fix it. thanks

I installed my system myself and was able to get a credit for doing so. It was very easy. About a kit I remember they used to have one and I think it was made by RCA. Not sure if they are still around but radio shack would be a good bet. If they don't have a kit you can always buy the supplies...

You can save yourself the money and keep the cables you have right now if your using DVI. With the digital connections, it will not make a difference at all what cables you are using as long as its not that long and has a good connection. With the analog hookups it makes a world of difference...
