    Semi-Old Dish Receivers

All, You may tell me to get the heck out, since this is a Dish Forum. But, I moved to Direct a few years ago when Dish had the "tussle" with Fox Sports in my area, and I wanted to finally get NFL Sunday Ticket. For some reason, not sure why, I held onto the Dish receivers. They are in the...

Rookie Looking for Advice Setting Up a Tailgate

I'll let you know how the 1000.2 works out for the South Carolina game. I may give the dish to an installer and let him play with it to make sure I've got it peaked right before we go. The only problem with only taking a dish 500 is that your locals will be SD, not HD.

Rookie Looking for Advice Setting Up a Tailgate

I tried that last year in Jacksonville (right in the middle of downtown), but got nothing. I have an ota antannae at my house that works great. I use car batteries and an inverter to power everything. Maybe that was creating interference. I've got a different ota antannae this time around...

Rookie Looking for Advice Setting Up a Tailgate

On north campus you might have LOS, but it will be dicey with all the trees in the library quad. You'll have to pick your spot carefully. If in the library quad, you should aim over the right center of the library to get the birds.

Rookie Looking for Advice Setting Up a Tailgate

I tailgate on south campus near Aderhold. My season tix are on the south side, so that makes entering and exiting the stadium easier for us. With home games, the Dish 500 will get 110 and 119. That will get you ESPN in HD. To get the locals (CBS, ABC, etc.) in HD, you'll need 129 as well...

Rookie Looking for Advice Setting Up a Tailgate

I am a UGA grad also, 1994. I've been doing satellite tailgating for years (like 7). I have a 24in LCD, Dish 1000.2, car batteries, inverter. This is the first year I've used the 1000.2 because I wanted all the other HD channels. I've tried to set up the 1000.2 at home, but I've had no...

    Another Dish Allignment Question

Thanks to both of you. I finally found the spotbeam maps. If the Georgia game were held in Charlotte or Knoxville or Birmingham, I'd be rocking, but no go with Jax. Thanks again. Since downtown Jax is right between all the towers, I guess I'll just spend a few bucks on a cheap ota setup. David

    Another Dish Allignment Question

Folks, I have been taking a dish network dish and receiver tailgating at Georgia football games for many years. This year, I have an HDTV to take tailgating. I want to get a dish 1000 for HDTV reception (Atlanta locals on 129 for HD). I have a few of questions. (1) How much harder is the...

    Tailgating 101

Tailgating Have done this for sevaral years and it's still quite a pain to set up. (1) Get a tripod - not the flimsy plastic POS, get the metal one - takes up more room, but it's more sturdy. (2) Get a small level - not just the little round one that comes with some tripods. Get a...

Possible to have TV2 use IR??

Yes there is. I use a sling-box to do the same thing. Take an IR remote - change the remote id to #1 (make sure tv1 isn't the same), hit record while on the dish-info screen. Bingo - you are there.
