7" portable LCD TV for FTA dish alignments

Innovative DTV Solutions DPT170D+ 7-Inch Portable Digital TV costs a tad more but it has much higher resolution than the cheap Haiers, etc. Much easier to see/read. Read the reviews on Amazon. If you want a new one, they're cheaper on eBay.

It's Here, the new 722K! Unboxing Photos

The OTA (OverTheAir) module requires an OTA antenna. Depending on where you live, it may be something as simple as a VHF/UHF indoor antenna, or outdoor antenna. It's great to be able to record 4 things at once and OTA provides a good backup if the sat goes out in heavy rain storm.

Same here. I live in a fringe area, on the edge of two markets. So I won't switch to Dish until they come out with decent OTA tuner in a DVR.

This is a huge disappointment. Why can't Dish have a decent OTA tuner?

3 Oklahoma City TV stations pulling the plug today

Not exactly. Some stations have still been analog only up until now and are flash cutting to DTV on their old analog frequency.

Little Rock HD Locals - Those Not Being Carried

The previous posts were discussing KETS-DT, which serves Little Rock and is currently on Lowband VHF channel 5. It suffers from horrible impulse noise interference. In Feb., it is moving to Highband VHF channel 7, and will likely have the same problems, although possibly on a lesser scale...

Little Rock HD Locals - Those Not Being Carried

Except during area lightning events and other impulse noise interference like light switches, motors, etc., that mucks with OTA DTV on VHF (even high band VHF).

Updated DirecTV HD Locals Launch Schedule: November->March (And PBS Launches)

They aren't channels. They're sub channels - something piggybacked onto the main channel. DirecTV doesn't have unlimited satellite capacity. It you want subs, connect an antenna.

    Purchasing HDTV-Need Advice

Vizio LCD displays are made by the same factory that's jointly owned by Samsung/Sony and makes their displays. But Vizio uses scaling technology from the best in the industry, Genesis/Faroudja, not some proprietary technology. That's why their picture quality is excellent. On a small 37"...

Need recommendation: Analog TV converter box

Definitely the Zenith DTT900 or DTT901 from Rat Shack, K-Mart or Circuit City. Or the Zenith clone sold under the Insignia brand at Best Buy.

    Trouble with HD

If nothing was done in the customer's receiver menu, D* probably removed/re-added all programming on the account, which will sometimes solve the problem.

    Trouble with HD

Untrained support people and bad contract installers are absolutely the worst part about D*. Sadly, most big companies are this way nowadays. :(

    Trouble with HD

    1. Go through the complete satellite setup wizard again in the receiver's menu, making sure the correct dish is selected. 2. If that doesn't help, call and speak to tech support and tell them the West Coast HD DNS channels are authorized but can't be received. Keep trying until you get...

    Trouble with HD

If the 390s don't work, try rebooting the box with the red button by the access card, or just unplug the box for a minute or so, Other fixes for no 390s: Repeating the satellite setup menu wizard. Programming removed/re-added to the account by a D* CSR.

AT&T picks DirecTV for their DBS partner starting 2/1/2009

Yes. Yes. To get the AT&T+D* bundle, you'd need an AT&T landline, or possibly AT&T DSL w/o a phone (dry loop DSL). Probably not available in your area, though. If AT&T wireless is in your area, they might offer a D* bundle. You'd have to ask them.

AT&T picks DirecTV for their DBS partner starting 2/1/2009

Actually SBC (a.k.a. SWBell Corp.) partnered with Dish, initially. After SBC bought the remains of AT&T, they changed their name from SBC to AT&T. Good news for AT&T and DirecTV stock holders. Bad news for the already hurting Dish Network.
