    Dish Pixelating Fixed

Actually I would say it's more probable that it is a power supply issue I've noticed on mine that I'm getting weak LNB spikes from time to time with no weather issues, so I'm pretty sure that my Hopper is have problems supporting the LNB's. It's more likely that the power supply is fluctuating...

    Another remote problem

The codes are in the Menu System Setup/Remote Control, just follow the instructions and all should go well. With off brand TV's I've used other off brand codes in order to get my TV to work. It's a lot of screwing around but has worked out for me.

Which is the Best DVD Recorder?

Be aware though that any HDCP content will not backup to a DVD as the copy protection won't allow it. If someone knows of a recorder that gets around this I'd like to know. Some of the old LiteOns would and I have one but the burner is dead in it now.

    Please everyone call Directv

I'll 2nd that! What I hate more is paying for non-commercial service and having DTV insert all of those crappy advertisements in the guide like cable has been doing for years. I have to guide to channel 507 in order to avoid the four or five adverts at 501. This I really hate and have called...

    Directv HD service

That is true I have old SD and HD Tivo's but if you haven't had the sat card updated recently you'll have to get them to send you new card(s) and they may want to charge you for them, I think it is $10 or $15 bucks unless they have increased that too lately. They won't use the older smart cards...

    HR2x / HR34 External Hard Drive FYI/Support (eSATA)

I've read through that thread and several others about that and if you read that thread it is a compatability jumper problem Seagates come set to SATA1 you need to pull the jumper off the drive to make it SATA2. I've also read the threads on NewEgg before this post and the few problems people...

    HR2x / HR34 External Hard Drive FYI/Support (eSATA)

The FAP, E Book, and My Book don't work with the HR21's and it's not a HDD problem there is a chipset issue apparently. The MX1 is too small for me I would like a 4 to 5 drive bay JBOD and/or RAID external. Has anyone tried the "AMS DS-2350S Aluminum Black eSATA 5 bay SATA Enclosure -...

    DirecTV 11 Satellite - Tracking & Testing

It was from one of there higher up techs that actually does work with the stream testing but that doesn't mean he is right as he doesn't make the end decisions. From what I read from their latest release was that they were ahead of schedule a week or two and it didn't specify a specific date...

New Receiver: H23 (UPDATE: Now with Pictures)

One of my favorite and normally trust worthy Satellite supply shops states it does and specifies this as I did so sorry if the Hxx's are not actually working with the OTA converter I haven't tried it yet but do plan to soon with both HD recievers and HD-DVR's. Again sorry for any confusion my...

    Internet or Phone or both?

You really don't need either connections unless you use the somewhat new OnDemand. PPV can be done from DirecTV.com via user account with your PC which is free or by the calling them directly which costs $1.50 I think. I don't use my phone lines for their boxes and haven't for over a decade.

Direct Receivers vs 2009 Digital Mandate

DirecTV has been digital the whole time so they are compliant and you will see no change unless of course you dive into HD and then you can still use your old TV's if you wish. I have one that is just coax input and I have a H23 HD reciever hooked to it, of course I needed to convert it to...

    DirecTV 11 Satellite - Tracking & Testing

Could be and the person I talked to TODAY could be wrong even though they are directly from DTV and they were not one of the know nothing CS people. If my info is wrong great all the better, but I'm just conveying what I was told directly from the horse’s mouth today.

New Receiver: H23 (UPDATE: Now with Pictures)

If you talk to Customer Retention you most probably can get a free DVR but leased with a two year commitment. For OTA if you use the SWM8 plus (2)SWS4’s to distribute your lines you can include OTA over a single line like you used to be able too but to the DVR’s as well. You will need the...

    Latest Version?

One nice thing about the H23 is NO BBC (B-Band converters) hanging off your box they are integrated into the reciever. WeaKnees is pretty good for equipment and if you get one of their upgrade packages DTV will consider it owned, so they state.

    DirecTV 11 Satellite - Tracking & Testing

If you’re thinking that DirecTV 11 bird is going to be fully implemented in the next week or two it won’t be. It is due to be in its proper position and fully operational between September 12th to possibly the end of September. I talked to DTV today about the new Ka bird and they reconfirmed...

Stoopid Newb - Basic Satellite Questions (DirecTV)

You can definately install it yourself if you wish too, D* may want to but I've installed all of my own gear for over a decade now and I'm about to finally upgrade to the MPEG4 C system now installing it myself and NOT giving them my old owned gear back like they also try to do. Glad to see...

    New Computer Build

Joedekock 1st) Just because you own an IT solutions company doesn’t necessarily qualify you as an expert, not to say that you are not knowledgeable in the field, you just don’t deal directly with product and customer problems. The president of the company I work for knows enough to be dangerous...

QUOTE by joedekock 1. “I get my information from being in the profession” 2. “as I heard that the core2 duo's could easily handle it without breaking a sweat” One is a contradiction of two as two is hearsay. I work on PC’s everyday and have built and tested more in a month or two then you...

    New Computer Build

QUOTE by joedekock "AMD's 64 X2's typically only are over clockable another 400mhz. But again, they are much cheaper out of the gate." Wrong! I don't know where you get this from but you're way off here. If you truly want to over clock go with an FX chip they are the best for that...

    New Computer Build

Neutron - Do your self a big favor and stay with AMD they are much stronger then Intel in the processing department, plus cheaper too. I just built a E6300 machine with everything faster then one of my old 939 4400 Dual Core and ran them head-to-head. I transcoded a movie with DVD Rebuilder...

Mac OS X or Windows Vista

MAC OS10 is Linux basically. LOL If you’re the average user Linux isn't going to work for you so I disagree with him needing to add this. Should we then add Solaris, BE, Unix, and so on? I think not. I prefer Vista myself but to get Vista to run relatively well you need to do several things...

    Upgradeing Wireless Router G to N ?

The Antenna will help but N is the way to go you'll have fewer issues in noisy areas and most draft N's are backward compatible, I have yet to see one that isn't. I used a higher gain antenna but it was not enough to gain a solid connection in one of my rooms but the N works great, even if I...
