New install questions (how many lines from HD sat, multiswitch, etc.)

No 4x8 multi-switch... Slimline is only compatible with the Zinwell 6x8 (or 6x16) multi-switch. And you will need all four lines coming into the house...

Anyone up for some Halo 3 tonight?

Sounds good man... I should be on after 9 p.m. EST. I have little ones to tuck in first...

    Directv extra receiver box

Honestly, it might be cheaper and more cost efficient in the long run if you were to just get the receiver directly from Directv. Either way, you'd be paying $5.00 extra per month on the second receiver... $5/lease fee (for their receiver)as opposed to $5/programming fee (for an "owned"...

Another perspective on HD-DVD and Microsoft

LoL... I believe Diogen pretty much sums up what the rest of us think of all this fancy talk ;)

Anyone up for some Halo 3 tonight?

Hello all! I'm fairly new to the whole Halo "experience" and I'm still trying to get the hang of things... problem is, I have next to NO friends online, and my Rep rating is still stuck at 3 :( I'm looking for some older gamers, preferably, as I'm 32 myself, and definitely not a hardcore...

    Installation quesstion!

Eddie's right... to a degree. You absolutely CANNOT use a splitter for D* receivers regardless. On the other hand, if you don't wanna pay to have the line ran, and you don't wanna do it yourself... you could leave just the one cable from the wall-jack running in the Sat 1 tuner. Only problem...

    Yamaha HTR-6030 Problems...

NM... got it all figured out now. Had a brain-storm, and realized I should probably check out the PS3's audio output settings first. All fixed now :D

    Yamaha HTR-6030 Problems...

Hey fellas! Here's the deal... I bought a new (low-end) Yamaha home theater package today, brought it home and hooked everything up. I also bought a PS3 (for the Blu-Ray, naturally) along with an optical cable to connect to the AV receiver. Problem is, I'm not getting ANY sound from the...

    Skip, skip, skip...

Whether it was frame-rate or not, I have had this "jumping" in the past with my ABC affiliate. I seem to recall it happens more often than not when trying to watch their "Wonderful World of Disney" specials. And you're right, it isn't a satellite issue... probably has more to do with the...

    UFC 81 in HD!!!!

I agree... I think they DID raise the price this month. As far as I know, it usually ran around $49.95.

    Skip, skip, skip...

Out of curiousity... what local affiliate were you watching? I noticed in the past, with ABC in particular, that the frame-rate wasn't quite right... maybe it was just me?

    UFC 81 in HD!!!!

How much is that running you? D* wants $54.95 for the HD broadcast, and I can't find it in me to pay that much :|

    New Dish installer needs help!!

Thanks you for the clarification, DishComm :) I guess I can see where you're coming from... especially considering you're a sub and most of your supplies are out of pocket. Makes a lot of sense really. I thought maybe they were kept by the dish so that tuning could done from one output on the...

    New Dish installer needs help!!

Not to step on anyone's toes or anything, but I find this thread extremely ironic!! I work for a D* HSP locally, and if you were to come here and check out OUR quality of work compared to that of the local subs for E*, I think you would be mildly surprised. The quality of work from these...

    Newbe needs information

The only reason you might need the 3-LNB ODU anymore is if you wanted Spanish Programming... D*s HD feed USED to come through the Triple-Sat, but with the launch of all the new programming, the SlimLine took over that. On top of that, instead of looking to the sky for ONE satellite (Dual LNB @...

    Newbe needs information

Yeah, it pretty much IS that simple... is your receiver Hi-Def or standard? If it's standard definition, you could probably just get the standard 18" ODU (Dish), your tripod, and your run of cable... and be good to go~

Welcome to the Site :) As for equipment... do you already HAVE service w/ Directv? If so, what kind of receiver (set-top box) do you have?

    Whatever happened to the FTM???

According to our FSM from D* (I'm an installer for a local HSP), technicians won't have any say-so regarding who gets a SWM or not... I don't know about any of the other sub companies, but we're restricted to using ONLY what is on our work orders. And if that unit costs THAT much, I really...

Channel 77 would be your best bet... unless of course you want something you can print off as reference.

    HR21/ HDMI problem

There seems to be compatibility issues with some Samsungs and the HD boxes. I've encountered it myself many times out in the field. I'm not sure there IS a fix for this problem. I could be wrong though...

Moved and now having signal issues

To do a hard reset... unplug it - wait 10-15 seconds plug it back in. Sometimes this is necessary with dvrs... especially if you didn't hook up everything before plugging it in. And what do you mean by "destacker"?
