    Review: AT&T U-VERSE

Figured I'd mention that as of yesterday, U-Verse added on the Viacom networks in HD.

    AT&T U-verse Users

I assume when you say you're rebooting you mean the DVR and not the RG, and if that is so, are you using HDMI to connect to your TV? I had the same problem when I originally had U-Verse, the system would be all kinds of screwed up if I used HDMI, but now I have it connected via component cables...

    AT&T U-verse Users

I have U-Verse, switched to it a month ago or so. I was tired of having a satellite dish on the patio (apartment complex, previous DISH subscriber) and wanted to get rid of cables running all over the house. I'm provisioned for 2HD/2SD currently, but the 3HD/1SD service should be available...

    Just switched to Uverse.

I first tried out the service a year ago and didn't end up keeping it for too long. Now that they have 18 Mbit internet I tried it again. I also was tired of having my DISH sat on a tripod on the patio with cables running through the sliding doors (Apartment complex). The HD quality has...

    Just switched to Uverse.

I got U-Verse installed yesterday and the DVR model I got is a 250 GB one. I'm not sure if that's normal or not...

    One Dish and 4 TV's

You'll just have a DPP44 switch installed somewhere in the house - the three inputs from the dish will come into the 44 switch, and the switch has 4 outputs to run to your receivers. I used it in one of my houses to drive one dual tuner DVR and three single tuner standard receivers. (For a total...

Fox HD News has been removed from the Turbo Packages!

I'm on a chat right now trying to get CI (It shows up on one of my receivers but not the other, no matter what I do) had this to say when I asked about the FOX News channels in HD: (24DrDepT) Israel E. QQO: Ok, this is the e-mail we got yesterday. (24DrDepT) Israel E. QQO: What about our...

    New Dish packages too expensive

Lucky you that you have an affordable cable provider. If I wanted to get Comcast with 1 DVR, 1 standalone HD receiver, the basic package (channels 2-89), all the HD channels, and basic cable internet, it would cost me $169.99 per month. So screw that.

San Francisco Local Q: Why isn't KQED available in HD yet?

I'm more looking forward to getting the CW than PBS, but anything more is better. DTV has the CW (KBCW) and PBS (KQED), if I remember correctly, and U-Verse here has MyTV, PBS, IND (KOFY), the CW, and another IND (KICU) all in HD. I figure since San Diego and Los Angeles both got their CW's...

    Confused Newbie to the site...

The power inserter just plugs in-line with the run connected to port 1 on the DPP44 switch. You'll have a power adapter you need to plug in somewhere you have an outlet (I just had mine behind the TV that was connected to port 1 on the switch) and there is a pass-through connector for the coax...

    Uplink Activity Report - 11/13/2008 4:02pm - 15 changes

But Comedy Central isn't in HD yet. There was a thread a while back about it where Viacom said January 2009 was the target date. So there's no way they could add a HD version of the channel 9 months ago when one didn't exist, and still doesn't yet. Just sayin'.

Will Dish move me from 129 to 61.5 for free?

I wanted 61.5, and instead of calling up DISH, I just installed it myself. The dish itself was $20 on ebay, the LNB was $5. A couple tweaks aiming it, and bam, 61.5. No sweat.

Which locals will I get in HD?

I also live in Santa Rosa and can verify the locals. It's quite nice that FOX, CBS, and ABC all have the evening news in HD. Poor NBC is the only one left out. I also have the U-Verse HD service as well, which includes the same, plus the CW and MyTV in HD.

    SCIFI and USA HD Live!

I see them here too, working fine. I've never once watched a show on USA or Sci-Fi in my life, but I'm glad the dozens of threads weekly about waiting for the channels to appear will be gone

    Construction on A new House!!

Definitely do this. It is so much easier to have a broadband connection come in down in your basement or something and feed it to all your rooms through jacks in the walls than having cables everywhere. Plus, like he said you can connect your DVR units right into the internet connection instead...

    622 HDMI and DD5.1

I agree with this. I had a LG TV that I hooked up that way (HDMI to TV, optical out to receiver) and the 5.1 came through just fine. Now, hooked the same way on a Samsung TV, it comes through as dolby digital, just not 5.1 Some TV's just don't send through the 5.1 signal I guess.

New Year's Eve Live not HD!?

I'm in a strange area where I'm allowed to get both my local channels plus the locals from one market over (yay, HD), and it was strange. While both markets are the same time zone (CST), my local ABC showed the celebration in HD, live in NYC time, and the other ABC I get showed it in SD, on a...

    Knowing just enough

Yep, it's not because of the move, it's because 129 really sucks on a few of it's transponders. TBSHD is on transponder 6 which is one of the worst ones. You either need to peak your dish as osu said, or get a second dish to point at 129 by itself.

129 users - channel quality poll

Yep. I already have the 1000.2, and I already have a 2nd 18" dish to pick up 61.5. I'd drop 129 altogether, but my locals are on it. Sometimes the receiver chooses to grab TBSHD off of 61.5 (signal strength 50-70), and I'll be able to watch it with no problems, but most of the time the receiver...

129 users - channel quality poll

All the channels look good to me, except TBS and NBA, which I cannot watch because they're on transponder 6, which jumps between 0 and 6 for signal strength.
