    Sept 19th 6:00 AM HD D* PARTY!!

Yeah -- go BROWNS instead. On topic: Will the new bird afford enough bandwidth to get rid of the pixelation issues on some of the HD channels? Watching TNT-HD makes me cringe at times.

It looks offical, D* sold to Liberty

I'm only concerned about one thing: What does this mean for a possible return of Spice HD??

HR 20 - Caller ID on TV problems

I can't get mine to block the in-laws from calling. Wasn't that suppose to be a feature?

    Speculation on networking the HR20

I sure hope DTV has solid plans to network the HR20's for home users. I would love to have the ability to pull content from one of my 3 HR20 units over to one of my H20 receivers. I'd also hope you could browse your local LAN and pluck programs from any given HR20 in your house. I could have one...

    Bizarre HR20 picture issue

Twice in the past several days, I've gone to fire up the HR20 and I have absolutely nothing but a white, sparkling screen a lot like analog snow on a OTA non-channel. I have audio -- but nothing but the "static" image. A reboot of the unit seems to solve it, but I'm worried it's a sign that...

    Future of DirecTV HD

If DTV had the bandwith to add 300 HD channels tomorrow...what the heck would they add? Sure, E* has more HD channels...but how many are on par with HD Discovery and HD.Net? I am as irked as anyone I am missing out on what could have been for now. If DTV cannot fill the birds when things are...

DIRECTV Getting Sued over HD Lite

You, sir, are correct. I must have been thinking about the abundance of HD-DVD movies at my local Blockbuster.

DIRECTV Getting Sued over HD Lite

Regardless if this case wins or loses, I would think this would call DTV to the public carpet and make them address the perception of the case. And by addressing, I mean putting hard facts and detailed plans out there -- especially since Murdoch called it a "dog turd."

I wish DirectTV knew what was going on. Maybe you can help me

Welcome! I picked up the HR20 Friday at Best Buy and installed it myself that evening. By installing, I mean simply swapped out the old HR10 unit. When I first turned the unit on, I got the updating message and it hung at 1%. My wife was taking me out to dinner that night and I kept saying...

TNT-HD last week, HD-NET this week

We should all call and complain and get credit. We paid for a full month of HD.net programming and we aren't getting it! I'll take my $.08 credit, thank you! DTV really should drop some SD crap channels and at least stick a couple of new MPEG2 HD channels up until the new birds go up. They...

    Leaving DTV for dish

If you have a contract and are at the end, I'd call retention and tell them you want to leave and see what they offer. A recent post showed DTV was losing many customers to other services, but still posting a small net gain. I'm so tired of HD promises and if I didn't have another 1.5 years...

    H20 swap-out for heat (reboot) - 2 year commitment??

They don't want to replace the unit you own, they want to give you a new unit which means a new contract. If you'd purchased the H20 under the lease problem, *then* they would swap it. Call and ask for customer retention...a friendly conversation works wonders.

HR20 - Release in August (LA to be the first)

My guess is their idea of waiting until they have a large enough inventory to roll out to meet demand has been tossed. The media and the message boards have been bashing them for far too long and they have to get something on the market. It'll be FIFO for each of the new markets until Spring.

    DirecTV HD DVR Delayed Again

I'm a firm believe that Murdoch should have purchased TiVo when the stock was tumbling. They would have picked up the know how AND have the brand name. TiVO is now a verb, for god's sake!

    HDNet Recent Info

I have an issue with loading up a novelty network's schedule with shows that couldn't even survive in mainstream OTA broadcasting. It just seems like it's just primetime filler. How about some movies that aren't like the ones from 1984 that Showtime shows 30 times a month?

Columbus, Ohio MPEG4 Upgraders, am I missing anything??

At least with OTA I won't get the 3 second audio delay on the HD-20. Ay caramba! Landlocked (Dublin, OH)

    D* is getting smoked!!

2 months ain't nuttin'. I've been with D* for 6 years and had to buy all of my expensive MPEG-2/HD equipment before the new program...only to fork it over to get leased equipment. If I didn't have to re-up when I bought the HD stuff I would be with Dish. Since I would have felt stoopid...

    New Channels???

So you're saying that DTV might be trying to catch up and carry HD programming that has been on or is coming soon to Dish?! I'm still upset I never got to watch Spice HD before it went limp.

Hmm. So the program welcomes back people who weren't satisfied the first time around and locks them into a 2-year agreement? Brilliant!

    HD Locals In Columbus, OH

I agree 100% - the CMH NBC primetime quality blows the NY NBC feed out of the water. I imagine that's because, in part, that channel is using MPEG-2?

Direct TV Advocated Lying About Need Of Phone-Line

I was told something along those lines a couple months back when I got my H20s. The installer told me that they needed to be hooked up within 3 weeks or they wouldn't work. Knowing that the phone, at least for previous models, was only needed for PPV functions...I didn't sweat it...and it works...

New TV sucks or TNT-HD that bad?

The pixelation is exactly what caught my eye! I had read that some LCDs can look bad when watching action movies because of the refresh ability. I wasn't sure if it was my set or the box. Perhaps it's a little of both. Oh yeah - CForrest - love the avatar!
