    What we are hearing...

I love this site for tracking gas prices. The graph tells the whole story. http://www.eia.doe.gov/oil_gas/petroleum/data_publications/wrgp/mogas_home_page.html note Jan 2007 was where gas prices took off again, Just about when the new Congress took over.

    DBSTalk.com is down!!

What bothers me most about this whole situation is that Directv management gave the CSR's the 19 Sept date and told them to distribute it. Now that that date has not materialized, they have left the CSR's hanging in the wind with no update and no additional information. A poor way for a...

DIRECTV Getting Sued over HD Lite

In court, you can demonstrate that the HD lite format is not anywhere in the ATSC spec, which is the definition of HD. http://www.atsc.org/standards/a_53e-with-Amend-1-and-2.pdf Clearly D* loses, what next? D* agrees to broadcast at 1280X720P or 1920X1080i, thus meeting the ATSC...

Setup question--Video out to 2nd TV?

I run both of the composite/audio signals from the back of my D10 at the same time, works fine. On my H10 I send HDMI to an HDTV and composite video to a computer, that works fine also.

Need to run 2 recievers from 1 cable. How?

I assume you have a D* box and are trying to split the signal from your satellite dish. If my assumptions are correct, you are out of luck. The onle solution is run another coax.

    Blackouts

If this is true, and D* has nothing to do with negotiating the blackout rules, then why isn't cable subject to the same rules? They aren't, I have already checked with cable companies and verified what they said with friend who have cable. D* negotiates these rules with MLB and FSN, they get...

    Major News in HD?

We receive FOX SUNDAY MORNING NEWS in HD from our local FOX station OTA. Don't depend on D* to provide you anything in HD. In fact the have recently renegotiated the HD sports blackout rules to take away much of the HD sports they were already providing. See my recent post titled BLACKOUT.

    Blackouts

ON 8/2/2006 I spent two hours on the phone with Directv, trying to get an answer (BTW I was disconnected 4 times, thank goodness for the redail button). Here are the basic parameters. I have HD service, MLB extra innings, and the Sports pack. I live in southern TN (my assigned " home" teams are...

    Gospel Lands DirecTV Slot

Only 9% of Americans may own HDTV's, but remember that 9% probably controls 90% of the discretionary spending (that's how they could afford an HDTV in the first place) . That 9% are the ones who buy D* premium channels, PPV, etc. And if they aren't high rolllers, then they are high tech...

No Signal When A/c Kicks On!! Help!!!

consider spending $100 and buy a battery backup system, Costco has a good one. It will almost certainly fix the problem. I would also call out an electrician and have him check out your wiring to see if there is a more severe problem.

HD-Lite - Senators Have Been Contacted

check the ATSC standard, search for the "high definition" definition http://www.atsc.org/standards/a_53e.pdf D* would appear to be in violation of the part of the standard that talks about "HD quality", although it may only be a recommendation....

    D* Screws up again!!

Let me relate a story illustrating the insanity of blackout rules. I watched (D* Ch 647) a Cardinals vs Pirates game last night. I noticed today that 647 was rerunning last night's game. I turned to CH 647 and guess what? The game I watched live last night was now blacked out on the rerun...

    D* Screws up again!!

Everyone needs to understand that it is not just blackout rules that prevent MLB EI from broadcasting games. For example if FOX Regional Sports (or anyone else) has bought exclusive rights to a game, then MLB EI cannot brodcast it. This creates a situation where even if you buy MLB EI, there...

    HEARTS Program

I wonder what would happen if a grocery store started to rate it's customers, and told you that you could only buy a certain number of groceries if your score was too low? I wonder how many people would continue to shop at that grocery? A good customer base is hard to establish, and even...

    I have an RCA DRD430RG

I have an idea, if D* refuses to remove a receiver that you clearly own from lease status , kindly ask for the name of the CSR, then explain to them that you are going to your local police station and have a warrant issued for their arrest for theft, because that is exactly what was done. If...

DirecTV to Launch Significantly Viewed DMA service

It is interesting that Directv is only asking to be allowed to do what the cable companies have been doing for years and then NAB turns around and calls it a "a regulatory-imposed advantage" . Notice nowhere is there any discussion of what is best for the consumer. Oh for the good old...
