Looks like the Firmware upgrade can be done thru a CD-ROM. see specs http://www.wildwestelectronics.net/zedv10ouprsc.html I wonder if can do wm9, have you checked T2 release in 1080p. If it does wm9 then it should down convert to 1080i. (at least that's the claim).

As long as the firmware upgrade for (wm9 HD DVDs) is real then it sounds good. Have you burned any DVD media? Did it read ok? If so what brand?

All codecs are free to the consumer. that's want they want. MS wants you to buy the wm9 HD DVD disc for 21.99. There's where the money is. MS will get a cut. PS A codec is not like another piece of software (ie MS IE)

I have seen this happen with home videos I have sent to my family. It will read fine on my DVD player, but theirs will freeze up after a time. I believe it goes back to the media.

Darrell, That's what it says. Mine says that too. But What I mean does it read, Maxell, Verbatim, Staples, Imation, generic, etc... I buy DVD-Rs in bulk and usually the cheapest I can get. My progressive scan DVD player only reads certain brands. It can't read Maxells ($2 DVDs)...
