    New Mini-BUD Install

You may be right. The weld looked pretty cheezy from the start. I'm still curious as to what kind of signal I can get. I can temporarily mount one in a fixed position just to see what I can get. I still want to build a wind break even for a very beefy system. I'm not discouraged, it's all part...

    New Mini-BUD Install

Back to 50+ MPH winds this week. The poor dish couldn't take it. Over time, vibration and minor oscillation tore the welded brackets apart. Did someone say this is a hobby? Oh well, worse things have happened. I will put this off until spring and try again when the wind chill isn't -98 degrees...

    New Mini-BUD Install

Wow, this is turning into a project and a half. Wife called me to report the dish had fallen over. I thought she was kidding. She wasn't. Got home and the dish was spun around and down on it's side. We had hurricane force winds today and the dish has shook so violently, the major nuts and...

    New Mini-BUD Install

Update: Cut pole down a bit, the wind is now having less effect, less wobble, etc. I think I'm missing a bracket, but I'll just make whatever I need from local hardware store. Luckily, no snow yet. We currently have a heat wave at 51 degrees, so I'm going out to align dish and see what I need...

    New Mini-BUD Install

Thanks, Haven't had a chance to review it yet. Just an update as I did get a request. I planted my pole four feet into the ground and anchored it with some concrete. As was pointed out to me, there is a significant gap between the pole and mounting hardware. To fix that, I filled the gap with...

    New Mini-BUD Install

Fred555, Thanks. Strange that it would do that. I'm new to C-band so I'm not familiar with this technology.

    New Mini-BUD Install

I have assembled the dish in the garage. It's resting on a short pole. I have included a picture of what looks like a fiberglass wafer of some sort that came with the LNB. . Not sure what it is. No instructions in the box. Any ideas? Here's my dish.

    New Mini-BUD Install

The LNB from Titanium rolled in over the weekend. Got my two sons working on digging a hole. Ground is so hard we have to water down the dirt to loosen it up. If it was any harder, we'd be breaking concrete. I don't think we will need concrete once I plant the pole. After adding the rebar, and...

    New Mini-BUD Install

Darn...fence depot only had the 2-3/8" pipe. Everything else was too large. Will have to make due. LNB shipped. I'll start digging that hole.

    Future of C-Band Paid Programming

Between Ku, C, and OTA, I believe we have the best package anyone can hope for. With the right OTA antenna, I can now get a ALL the local channels on the back side of the transmitters (mountain) and that is saying a lot cause my neighbors are paying thru the nose to get what I get for free. Ku...

    New Mini-BUD Install

2-5/8" sounds good to me. I measured it this morning and it was greater than 2-1/2" but less than 2-3/4". So I picked 2-5/8" to be best fit. I got plenty of rebar laying around so I'll be adding some anti-twist hardware to the mix.

    New Mini-BUD Install

Just ordered the Titanium C2W-PLL Wideband C-band LNBF Dual (2) Outputs 3.4 - 4.2GHz. Me and Mrs. Fizbi like to watch TV in bed, so I can run cable to the bedroom and living room. We will just set the dish to the bird of choice and snuggle under the covers. I'll be stopping at the fence supply...

    New Mini-BUD Install

Brought home 2 six footers, model WS1870P. Moving forward with my mini-BUD install. I have 14 acres to plant 2 c-band dishes. I chose a spot just behind my house so that the dish doesn't get too badly beaten up by the prevailing winds, and not directly visible from neighbors windows. These...

Looking for a C band dish

Picked up 2 C band dishes this weekend. Not going to post here any more. Will be starting a new thread when I figure out where to plant them.

Looking for a C band dish

Yep, picking up 2 six footers in about a week. One boxed new and one used and broke down to fit in my station wagon. Can't wait to set them both up. Neighborhood won't know what the hell is going on with dishes popping up all over our yard. I'll just tell them I work for JPL. :yessign

Looking for a C band dish

Got a call from a fellow in Montana who I think use to be on this list. He has 2 dishes he wants to let go. One dish is still in the box waiting for a new home. The other is in his yard and he wants to retire the setup. He's willing to meet me half way on the boxed dish. Been emailing with him...

Big satellite dish (New Birdview) to be given away- Fort Garland, CO

Yea...still mulling over it. That's a full day's 600 mile drive one way for me to go fetch it. I would need to rent a flat bed trailer as I don't think I can tie it down on my pickup truck. Plus, I'm still waiting to hear from a local neighbor on his dish that's the same size. That would be...

Looking for a C band dish

I did that too, but so far, no calls. :( Cruised a couple more alleys today. Man...I'm seeing waaaaaaay too much information. :imshocked

Looking for a C band dish

Found a 6 foot mesh in a backyard that looks to be in good shape. The house is for sale so I contacted the realtor. He said he'd ask the home owner if he'd let it go. Could up the property value as it sits on a 20 foot pole to clear the neighbor's building. Fingers crossed on that one. Another...

Looking for a C band dish

Went to Craigslist and created an alert to email me when the search robot finds a match. Fingers crossed. Gonna lurk the alleys on the way home from work. Gotta map so I can mark off blocks to search. Wish I had an airship so I could float over the neighborhood. Then I wouldn't have to worry...

Looking for a C band dish

Did a quick check using Google Maps for an aerial view of my city. Looked at two locations where I know there are damaged dishes. Too many trees block a clear view in addition to tilted dishes are hard to make out. On the other hand, used trampolines show up like bed sores. Looks like every...

Looking for a C band dish

Checking the alleys is a great idea. The homes would be blocking the view of many of them. I'll get my son to help as he just got his license too.
