You can off load all your HWS recordings to a EHD and play them off there on the Hopper 3. I have done it going from 922 to Hopper and Hopper to HWS.

Wonder if this is a skin on top of the existing back end or a total re-write of the OS. Starting over from scratch would certainly be one way to breath some life back into the OG Hopper and Joey.

I thought the TV controls were done with HDMI CEC. The TV controls were enabled in the app about the same time that feature was added to the Hopper.

That LG TV you bought runs WebOS. I don't know how that OS's application support compares to the older OS that LG uses. But I'm betting that's probably why you aren't seeing it. Your TV looks like this: OSU1991's TV looks like this:

I noticed something when watching recorded shows yesterday. When was finished watching the show and pressed "Stop." At the banner that comes up that asks you if you want to Delete the show, got to the DVR or go to Live TV... if you press Delete it used to take you back to Live TV and you had to...

One time a similar thing happened to me. I had to unplug the satellite feed from the hopper to keep it from rebooting. This allowed me to dump my recordings to the external drive via the transfer menu. Wouldn't hurt to give that a try.

A YouTube app would make more sense and most of the content there wouldn't be duplicated like it would be on Netflix. In a way we kind of have Netflix already, it's the OnDemand menu.

So I don't know if this really is how it works, but I would guess there are pre-programmed timecodes when those kind of inserted ads are supposed to be put. Sometimes that time code might be off by a few seconds or maybe consistently they are... idk. I don't think it's on purpose.

Analog cable doesn't require you to attach an box to your TV. You just screwed in the coax and switch a menu in the TV. In this case, the additional box is virtual. They still had to write it, test it and put in additional resources into making it.
