KCRG 9.3 CW - Cedar Rapids - Getting sound on Surround Left and Center only

No, I do not have an antenna, I have the Dish "Local Channels" package. KCRG 9.3 CW is on channel 020-00. I don't think 9.2 is included.

KCRG 9.3 CW - Cedar Rapids - Getting sound on Surround Left and Center only

It sounds like it just got fixed. I'm watching Roswell, New Mexico, and the problem was initially there, but stopped after about a minute or two.

KCRG 9.3 CW - Cedar Rapids - Getting sound on Surround Left and Center only

Seven years is impressive. I've seen the occasional screw up on the local channels, like a window-boxed picture or things like that, but usually that is fixed within a few hours, or a day at most.

KCRG 9.3 CW - Cedar Rapids - Getting sound on Surround Left and Center only

Thanks for the suggestion, I've cross posted it to AVSforum. Before contacting DISH/KCRG, I'm looking to get some confirmation of someone else with the issue first so that I at least have some evidence that it's not something with my equipment. Without that, the cynic in me would expect that...

KCRG 9.3 CW - Cedar Rapids - Getting sound on Surround Left and Center only

A number of shows on this channel have had this issue. Currently I don't have OTA, it's Dish local. I've had this happened on: Monday: Roswell, New Mexico The Republic of Sarah Tuesday: Star Girl Superman & Lois Wednesday: In the Dark. Thursday: The Outpost. Sunday: Legends of...

KCRG 9.3 CW - Cedar Rapids - Getting sound on Surround Left and Center only

Can anyone confirm that KCRG 9.3 CW as of late is essentially only mixing the center channel, and the surround left channel? And surround left appears to be a copy of the center channel. It was working without issue, until sometime last week. I can't imagine that this is something on my end. It...

They were able to spawn a completely new satellite?

I'm sure they're just running Windows updates on 129 and rebooting it right?

DISH Remote Access being replaced by DISH Online?

Is there no conflict management of events? DRA and my 622 itself both show conflicts but I don't see an interface in DO to handle this. In DO I see "Recordings" and "Scheduled", but I don't see the word conflict anywhere. DRA's conflict handling isn't brilliant, the grouping of multiple...

    What would you do?

In Europe you see a lot of this type of vehicle for commercial applications: Light_commercial_vehicle I don't know for sure, but I think these things get similar mileage and have a bit more professional look.

Why ssuch a low tmer limit?

I would agree with that if I thought that the slowdown was linear, however from what I can tell the performance degradation is non-linear. For example if you only have 1 timer and you add 1, you experience some performance loss. However if you have 95 timers and you add 1, you experience many...

Why ssuch a low tmer limit?

It is much more likely that the limit is there for performance considerations rather than memory use. The memory needed to store 96 timers and 576 events shouldn't be much more than a few hundred kilobytes, I'd be surprised if it's more than one megabyte. When you do get to 96 times or 576...

Two questions about setting Manual Timers

Yes, just set one (or both) of the events to something other than the 1 minute early / 3 minutes late settings. For example, set the Daily Show to start 1 minute early and 5 minutes late. That should cause the Colbert Report to switch from TV2 to TV1. Alternatively, you could set the Colbert...

On my 4th or 5th VIP622 replacement! I cry Uncle...

Well right, I have my HDTV, A/V receiver, PS3, internet equipment and NAS hooked up to it as well in an equipment rack (see here). Obviously there are cheaper options for this sort of thing as well. The main reason I bought it was to not lose recordings during power outages / hiccups, but I was...

On my 4th or 5th VIP622 replacement! I cry Uncle...

4-6? That seems like a lot, I've had one fail (HDMI port), but the replacement has now been running for years without a problem. Have you've ruled out problems with the environment (power surges / bad wiring / overheating / etc...) ? I bought myself one of these and right after that I have had...

    Skins is Dish's Fault?

The funny bit here isn't complaining about Skins being aired, but claiming that Medium was well-written. A show with characters that have absolutely zero arc whose interactions almost sound like a customer support script is not in my opinion a well-written show.

Two questions about setting Manual Timers

On regular timers, the default is to start 1 minute early and end 3 minutes late. When two timers bump up against each other like with the Daily Show and Colbert Report, it will end the first event 0 minutes late and it will start the second event 0 minutes early. The result of this is a bit of...

A Way To Prevent The Scheduler From Recording Rebroadcast Episodes??? Fix It Dish!

Certainly, 5 or 8 seconds isn't outrageous, but it could be better. The hard way to fix that would be to optimize scheduling for performance, which would be a bit dangerous for stability, so I wouldn't recommend that. An easier way would be to add asynchronous skipping and possibly add the...

A Way To Prevent The Scheduler From Recording Rebroadcast Episodes??? Fix It Dish!

I just timed a few skips on my 622, and it's about 8 seconds per skip at the moment, but I think it's longer if it actually has to do some "work" such as restoring another event that was skipped by priority as a result of this skip.

A Way To Prevent The Scheduler From Recording Rebroadcast Episodes??? Fix It Dish!

This happens because the guide info doesn't have information on what specific episode it is and the DVR records it just in case it is new, as mentioned before. Aside from using the daily/mon-fri/weekly timer options, one way to fix it would be to change the software and add a preference option...

guide idiocy alert: Caprica on SyFy

You're kidding right? This would be an utterly simple addition. Furthermore, it would NOT touch one of the most critical areas of the software directly (scheduling), it would simply provide a different way to generate the new/old status data of an episode to the scheduling engine. A unique...

guide idiocy alert: Caprica on SyFy

SandFarmer, I think you misunderstood what I was proposing, otherwise you wouldn't have had such a violent opposition to it. Let me try to explain it again, and hopefully, you'll see that this is a superior system. To me, the key to whether you want to record/view a show is not if it is new to...

guide idiocy alert: Caprica on SyFy

I would argue that the fault doesn't completely lie with the guide provider. The DVR software could do a better job as well. To me a "new" episode should mean: the episode is new to you, and not: the episode is new to the world. If it behaved like that, the original air date on the guide...

    Team Summit 922 Pics

The UI looks pretty, but that also concerns me a bit. I'm not sure that a mouse pointer and pull down menus are conducive to performing actions quickly. I hope they haven't focused solely on the mousing experience, and have kept the speed of the traditional arrow and select navigation in mind...
