    Kiss off Dish!

Update: FIOS in in the house. :D Since I've been a FIOS Internet/phone customer for two years, my router was replaced. This required the running of coax to my loft where my office/computer is, because that's where the CAT5 run from the OT box ends. Other than that, the install was fairly smooth...

    Kiss off Dish!

Thanks, Scott, for your compassion and understanding. But I'm wondering why everyone thinks this is purely a "box" issue - I think I've been very clear that the technical issues are only part of my complaints: what about the down-rezzed HD channels, the lack of picture quality is quite apparent...

    Kiss off Dish!

Well, after all the drama, I've had a moment of clarity: If I want to send the most effective message to Dish of my complete dissatisfaction with their service, I will probably request a cancellation of my contract, and pay any service fees. To hell with them.

    Kiss off Dish!

My experience is that the installers for Dish in northern VA are a sorry bunch. My advice: clean up your act and provide decent service, or get thicker skin.

    Kiss off Dish!

I've been watching OTA HD since the beginning - 1998! It's the standard for picture quality. Never once have had to deal with crappy locals from any service provider.

    Kiss off Dish!

Scott, This is what I want from the DVR: 1) Select a show form the guide 2) Select one-time or multiple timers 3) Then, go to menu to find recorded show and play it back. Kinda like my trusty 501 and my Sony OTA. What more does one need? See, being able to get locals OTA has spoiled me as...

    Kiss off Dish!

Scott, luck has nothing to do with it. BTW, love the new SatGuys shirts - might have to get one. :D As I read the long FIOS thread over at AVS, it verifies that FIOS has the best picture going right now (download a couple of the spreadsheet to verify the numbers - FIOS is quite impressive...

    Kiss off Dish!

At one time, if you were into quality HDTV, Dish was the only option. Sadly, Dish is now more about quantity than quality. My 622 has been a PITA since day one - actually, make that day 24, when the HDMI connection broke. I contacted Dish a couple of times and got nothing but grief. Folks...

    What did Charlie Say?

Thanks. I didn't think they were ready for prime time. But, Dish better pay attention. I'm shelling out close to $100 a month, and what's my return? I ask that every time I make a payment.

I'm very temped. Do they have a decent HD-DVR?

    What did Charlie Say?

Scott - thanks so much for the information. :up I've had HD (in one form or another) since 1999 in the Ferrara Theater, and have been with Dish as long. I love the HD variety, but now that I've got a full blown 1080p front projector & an 8' screen, picture quality is paramount. And it's been...

    DishONLINE

Ok guys, help me here. Currently, Dish offers Dish On Demand. I can order up a movie via DOD, and it's saved to my HD. Haven't done it yet since there is no HD content available. What will this new BB service provide? It is not a duplication for 622 owners? Am I missing some key point here...

    SatelliteGuys Exclusive: Dish 942 News

Scott, Thanks for the information. Question: will we be able to archive programs that are currently recorded? Or is it seemless - that is, we won't be able to specifiy external/internal - the sw sees it as one big virtual space.

    622 Lost HDMI output

I also talked with a TECH guy named Jeff, but he was reading from a script and even after I told him that I have a 2nd Sony DVR with HDMI output, and when I swapped HDMI cables with the 622, the Sony works fine, he said it was an incompatabllity with my system. You can imagine the conversation...

Buy a Dish DVR or Tivo?

Here's what I did: 1) Purchased a Sony DVR that uses the free TV Guide (via local PBS OTA) to record OTA network HD. The Sony has 500 GB that allows me to record the entire season of 24, Lost and Invasion with room to spare. No fees whatsoever. Some folks don't like the TV Guide, but it uses...
