I had it on cable so you're not missing much.

I had E* for years and never used a phone line. All this stuff is done over the air/sat.

When I almost went back to E* there was no mention of a lease fee in the small print on their website for one DVR box. Perhaps there is a fee on the HD box or they may have changed things or a different plan for new rentals.

The thing with DSL is that the date they give you and reality are two different things. I ordered DSL and once I got it in the mail I hooked it up way before the date they gave me. I think they give you a worst scenario date.

DVR has its downfalls too. I'd watch very little to no TV with a standard receiver while with a DVR I'm watching way too much TV. So it's also a waste of time if you watch too much DVR.

Of course la carte channels will be much cheaper. Do the math... 20 channels will be cheaper than 180 channels or what have you. It's really simple.
