The component connection works great. Some people prefer the picture from the components to the HDMI. I have both hooked up, and on my TV (Samsung 50" DLP) the picture seems to pop more, especially on the HD channels, from the HDMI input than the component input. The colors seem more vibrant.

Yeah, I know. What I was saying is that I have the Dish500, and the local HD channels (that I'm getting OTA through the 622) show in the program guide with what's actually on rather than just displaying "digital service". Could that be because I have the Dish500 and not the Dish1000?

That's where I was at and where my question generated from. I put in one HD TV connected to the DVR, no HD TV's hooked up, one TV hooked to a DVR and one standard televisions to connect. The result was what I posted in the original post. :confused:

Dishbuilder is what led me to the order page. When I look at the pages for the receivers, the 622 is referred to as the ViP622 DVR. I can't find anything that refers to the DISH Player-DVR. Seems like they could make things a little more clear to me.
