WTVD 11 Issues in Raleigh Area?

You're getting your HD locals from E* and not from an antenna, right? I get my locals from an antenna in the attic. I'm about 11.5 miles from the three towers and on windy days (like yesterday), channel 5 will drop all the time because the towers are swaying so much. When the channels I get...

Raleigh HD Locals (WRAL & WRAZ) & EPG Issues

Like jmel, I've never had a problem with this. I'm in Garner and have an antenna in the attic. I've never dropped the programming guide on any of the HD locals. I have a 622 and subscribe to the locals, but I don't get any HD locals over the satellite (don't have the correct dish to hit the...

    622 failed HDMI connector

The component connection works great. Some people prefer the picture from the components to the HDMI. I have both hooked up, and on my TV (Samsung 50" DLP) the picture seems to pop more, especially on the HD channels, from the HDMI input than the component input. The colors seem more vibrant.

    Raleigh HD Locals

I'm about 11 miles from the towers in the 40/42 area. I have no problems picking up anything with an antenna in my attic. Just use antennaweb to determine the direction you need to point. I went in the attic with a compass and got it close, then just slight bumps till it maxed out. Rarely...

    Raleigh HD Locals

They can. My TV has a TV Guide built in and when using just the antenna (before the dish was installed) I could get the guide data by hitting the TV guide button on the remote. That had to be coming OTA as there was no other means for it to get to the TV. Yeah. I can see guide data for 4-1...

    Raleigh HD Locals

I call BS on Dish!! I've never, not a single time that I have looked, ever not had guide data on 005-01 or 050-01. I've had my 622 and a pair of Dish 500 dishes since June.

    Raleigh HD Locals

I think we're having two different conversations here! My post originally was in response to Virgilw asking if anyone else was having the guide display "Digital Service" for 005-01 and 050-01. I receive all the HD locals OTA through the 622 and I was saying that I don't have that problem...

    Raleigh HD Locals

Yeah, I know. What I was saying is that I have the Dish500, and the local HD channels (that I'm getting OTA through the 622) show in the program guide with what's actually on rather than just displaying "digital service". Could that be because I have the Dish500 and not the Dish1000?

    Raleigh HD Locals

I wonder if it could be the difference in the dishes? I don't have a Dish 1000, so I can't get the locals in HD from E*. I have two Dish 500's mounted on the roof. The installer set me up that way because I have trees in the way and he said I'd get better signal with a dish pointed at each...

    Raleigh HD Locals

I'm in Raleigh, and I'm not having that problem with mine. All of the non-main HD locals say that....5-2, 11-2, 11-3, 50-2, etc.

    Raleigh HD Locals

Because D* and E* are going to compress the signal. What you get with an OTA antenna is the raw feed and it's as good as it gets, broadcast wise. I have an antenna in the attic and get excellent reception from all of the local stations...all 90 or greater on strength and usually 100 on CBS and...

    Raleigh HD Locals

Does anyone know what channel numbers will be the Raleigh HD locals? I have all of them solid over an antenna in the attic now, so it's not a huge need but I would like to be able to watch two local hd broadcasts at the same time (like a race and football game with the 622 in single mode). I...

    Hard disk content Corrupted warning

This came up on my 622 yesterday morning. The wife didn't tell me about it till last night though when she apologized for deleting all the recordings. Threw me for a loop because nothing had been deleted. I don't know which software version I'm running, but I know whatever got updated last...

    What is LiL?

I could be wrong, but I doubt Jaws was filmed in HD and has to go through some kind of conversion process. I totally have no idea though and am just guessing. I watched The Muppets Take Manhattan on one of the HD movie channels a few weeks ago. That movie wasn't as crisp and clear as the new...

    What is LiL?

Are you the kind of person that must find flaws and faults in everything? If so then yeah some channels will probably disappoint you. For me (with a 50" Samsung DLP that I calibrated with Avia) I think they all look somewhere between very good and great! Some are better than others, but even...

    Dish takes $300

I had the same problem when I turned off Dish at my last home. I was billed $100 for not returning the LNB. I called and they said it wasn't in the box. I was politely firm that I knew it was in the box because it barely fit and actually buldged the side of the box out (the box was for the...

How many TVs will a 622 be good for?

The 622 will do everything you ask. However it will only supply HD to TV1. TV2 will be SD. Will they upgrade in the future to provide HD on TV1 and TV2??? Who knows. Errrrr....nevermind. See JohnTomFerg's post above. And I have no idea how E* would want to bill you for that setup. I'm...

    622 optical out

OK, I got it going. Yeah, the optical was working before when I had the DirecTivo in place. For some reason the receiver forgot to look at optical input 3 when using this video input. It was looking at optical input 2 which is the optical from the TV. I must have had the receiver set up...

    622 optical out

The TV has nothing to do with it. I have sound on the TV via the RCA cables. The optical cable goes from the 622 directly to my receiver.

    622 optical out

Newbie here...got the 622 installed on Friday and played with it this weekend. So far I like it a lot, but I have one question. On Sunday I recorded the NASCAR race on TNT HD. When I watched it later, I didn't have any sound using the optical out from the 622 to my receiver. I had sound via...

    Can someone confirm this?

For anyone coming across this thread later on, I ordered what I had typed in above and when I got the order confirmation an hour or so later this is what was listed for equipment...'DISH 311 STANDARD RECEIVER Leased VIP622 System'. So I got what I was looking for and the 'DISH Player-DVR' is...

    Can someone confirm this?

That's where I was at and where my question generated from. I put in one HD TV connected to the DVR, no HD TV's hooked up, one TV hooked to a DVR and one standard televisions to connect. The result was what I posted in the original post.

    Can someone confirm this?

Dishbuilder is what led me to the order page. When I look at the pages for the receivers, the 622 is referred to as the ViP622 DVR. I can't find anything that refers to the DISH Player-DVR. Seems like they could make things a little more clear to me.

    Can someone confirm this?

I'm currently hookedup with D*, but, like most everyone else who switches, I'm tired of waiting on D* to get an MPEG4 player and more HD channels. I'm trying to order my E* service online. I want the 622 in my living room to feed the HD TV in there and the SD TV in the bedroom. I also want a...
