its just a 3x4 multiswitch,for use with the dual lnb dishes(just 101 sat.)Turns 2 lines off dish into 4 lines.You still need the receivers for the extra 2 lines.

yes I did switch because of the same deal 522 and 811.I have had alot of gripes about it.alot of times I turn the 811 on and I either get aquiring satellite signal or I have to do a switch test.I am an installer of directv,so I know my dishes are pointed with great signal strength,its just bugs...

Yeah ,I learned you could access recordings from both tuners also.I also have a weird problem,I have both tuners going into my 811 thru back panel inputs,now if I connect the audios thru the 811 also I get just left channel sound out of both.I have to have the audio hookups goin directly to my...

well I really didnt want to but dish had the 811 deal,and d* cost $399 to get hdtv,and couldnt afford to have both E* & D* so I went with the 811 522 combo,I guess I thought the 522 would work just like the ultimate tv

It can record 2 shows at once but only one on each tuner.You can watch one thats recorded while recording another one.Its just a major pain in the ass having it connected to two inputs,and having to switch between inputs.

The pic quality is good on the sd channels but you still get the black bars on the sides.I usually switch to s-vid for sd channels so it fills the screen

One bug I noticed is that I hooked up the 522 to the rear panel inputs and the audio only works in the left channel.Weird When switching channels sometimes the hd channels will lose audio,I just change the channel back and forth and it comes back on.

Well last night the installer was here til godamn 12:30am!!!! It was the first time he setup these 2 receivers so we were learning together.The 811 looks amazing on hd channells,it even brought in a couple of local digital stations with just a cheap rabbit ear!!But,the sd channels are all 4x3...

Any word on upgrades yet to turn off dual mode and turn on single mode for pip and recording 2 shows at once and such? This dual thing sucks as I am replacing an ultimate tv unit with this.
