I still can't believe how many people call the CSRs and open chat requests about national HD expecting to get some information. Ladies, gentleman, by now you should all know that the casual reader of this forum tends to know stuff well before the CSRs do.

I watched the BSG premiere on SciFi HD. I can say with next to zero doubt -- IT WAS IN HD.

Whatever makes you feel better. The bugs were minimal -- hell I don't think there even were any. I sure didn't notice them. Definitely a reason to not have HD after all - bugs are lower res. Good stuff.

I believe spectrum is fixed -- 32 transponders per orbital slot. It's not in the satellite, it's in the compression and the modulation. I could be wrong.

Agreed. They haven't added a single national HD since I subscribed in Fall 07. Even my local cable company has added channels since then.

For Dish, you can go with their HD only pack. I believe it's about $40 with locals. You will get all HD channels they currently offer, and it's believed that you will get future HD channels as well. For Direct, I'm not sure. With their current promos you can get their "middle" package for...

The flip side for me is that I can only record one network program in HD at a time. Still no locals in Cleveland. I believe E* and D* are both working on network viewing in their DVRs. Once they have that, your only limit is the number of DVRs you have.

I really am going to miss Rave and Equator. I don't watch them *often* but I'd say at least 1-2 hours a month. Rave has some good concerts from time to time - I really enjoyed the Gilmour concert they aired around New Years. It's just not compelling enough to keep me around.

Actually, with the promos, for the first year it's only going to be about $10 more than that for their "one step under the top" package. actually saves me over 30 a month for the first year and about 15 a month for the second. I'm also pretty sure the HD only package will at some point...
