    Distant Networks vs. EchoStar Update

That would be Netlink, which Dish owns, not NPS. NPS would only tell you it's an option. Netlink would force it down your throat and would out-and-out lie about C band channel status.

    SatelliteGuys Makes The Court Case

They are benefitting by not losing customers who would abandon them for an alternative. Sure you can get your locals from cable, but why would you stop there?

I will have 2 take my dish off!!! unless u help me

Has anybody actually read the entire post? The HOA is following the FCC guidelines. They just think the dish is bigger than the limit. All you have to do is measure the dish and show the HOA that the dish is under one meter in diameter. You might want to print out and show to the HOA...

    Dish forges agreement with Nielsen

People, please reread this paragrarph. Nielsen is already measuring Dish network viewers. Dish is not going to be sending anything to Nielsen. This agreement lets Dish get the numbers back from Nielsen to be used for mainly advertising purposes. This agreement would also lets Dish use the...

$200 for the dish installed and for a 301 sounds about right. Actually, it sounds cheap.

2800: how to get past smartcard errors?

In general, a card will only work in the receiver it came from. They are whats called a "married pair." You'll need to call dish to get a new card.

    Dish has a major problem

There are some newer PCI cards that work with the DirectTV signal. The system used by Starchoice isn't too obscure. It's used by many networks to get their signal to headends in North and South America and is also used by Comcast to broadcast their HITS lineup.

    Opionions Wanted

Avoid VMC, if there might be any chance at all that you may cancel early. They have their own penalty clause in their contracts. Dish may say that there is no penalty, but VMC has their own.

MDU install? can i do it?

300 units? Dish's daily churn is bigger than that. They net 4,000 new customers per day. Not getting your apartments will be a tiny blip on their radar.

got something weird happening when it gets a little cold

After eight years, it is most likely a bad LNBF. They don't last forever. An LNBF is easy to replace on your own. If you can get to the dish easily, try to do it yourself, otherwise check the yellow pages for a local sat installer to replace it for you.

SatGuys Exclusive: Dish Network answers some VOOM questions

No, they don't. The plan was to upgrade all the STBs when necessary. There are NO additional satellites anywhere near launch. They aren't even built. I believe that 2007 was the earliest anything could be launched, They would need to install a bigger dish and a different lnb. AMC-6 is an...

    Someone please? DISH Sat. Plans

Exactly. I'm in the NYC DMA. I live 70 miles north of the transmitters and have a mountain in the way. I have a clear line of site to the stations out of Albany, but the transmitters are over 75 miles away. Unless I put up a huge ass antenna, I'm not getting anything OTA.
