I believe you need 2 running to the receiver. You can split after the receiver however. But I believe you need a balun to do so. The 522 has to have 2 inputs to use both tuners.

I had a similar problem with an older 301. It would loose sat signal for a couple of seconds and then come back online. I tried several things (rebooting, unplugging, etc) and even ran through several tests with Dish tech. Finally, they authorized an RMA and sent me a new one.
