The best thing about Cinemax with Dish is getting it for a penny by signing up for autopay. I don't watch it a lot, but have gotten more than a penny's worth of enjoyment out of it. : )

I know for a fact that this is true. Cox Cable, in this area, removed a local channel for several days a few years back over a contract dispute.

DirecTV offers similar deals to new subscribers all the time...I'd love to know how many of their recently acquired subscribers are actually paying full price for their packages...and how many of them are aware of what they will be paying once the introductory "freeloader" period is over...

The smart card for my Dish 322 receiver was in the mailbox today. Some posters in this thread seemed interested in the type of programming being received by those who had gotten new cards to date. My programming package is very basic...Dish Family and the Starz/Encore movie package. Honestly...

Channel 998 is up/running on my humble Dish 322 receiver this evening, so I'm assuming that a new smart card should be arriving within a few days.

A voice of reason compared to someone who went by the name "DTVGal" on another forum a couple of years ago, whose sole mission was to justify DirecTV's latest round of price hikes. She seemed incensed that anyone dared question or object to the rate increase, since services such as health care...

The naysayers make the most noise, and they seem to flock here like flies, which I why I don't frequent this forum as much as I used to. I'm with you, for what it's worth. For my needs, Dish offers the best mix of value for the money and image quality.

On into the forseeable future...and when I drop Dish, there will be no more subscription television in this household.

TV Land has become such a joke. I wish that Dish could dump it and carry American Life instead.

I've been watching the remake of "The Producers" on Cinemax for the past 90 minutes, thanks to this 99 cent special. Many thanks to this newsgroup, as I never would have known about it had someone not posted a tipoff back in December.

I don't need or want HD at this point in time, and television frequently serves as background these days. I just dropped from AT100 to Dish Family, because there are a few channels on Dish Family that I enjoy that can only be otherwise received by moving to a much more expensive package...

Not in my own experience, at least not as of January 2007, when I dropped DirecTV and went with Dish because of pricing issues.. The biggest surprise, when making the move to Dish, was visibly better SD image quality on most channels...a huge shock, as I had last subscribed to Dish in...

Of course...but I still got a laugh out of the way it was cut off this morning.

The program guide on my Dish receiver shows, on USA Network, "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doo."

No chance in Hell with I ever go back with Direct.
