    Local dispute

Can't speak for UVerse, or Fios for that matter, but anecdotally, DirecTV settles carriage disputes far more quickly than DISH. Hearst-owned channels have been out on that service for more than a month, and no end seems in sight. DirecTV lost Hearst channels for a week in January.

MLB Extra Innings not worth it anymore.

It is the same for the NHL -- they're using the MLB engine and architecture. The picture is crystal clear, and I appreciate being able to watch the Canadian telecasts. The NBA, not so much. Their picture is still inferior, at least on my Roku box.

MLB Extra Innings not worth it anymore.

Yes, this is an advantage, if that's what you're into. But MLB.TV allows you to start a game telecast from scratch if you're not there to watch it live. For me, I can't tell the difference between MLB.TV picture quality and DirecTV feed. PQ has improved on an order of magnitude since being...

Free Preview of NHL Center Ice

Nice to have the free preview, but it won't change my mind on how I watch hockey. I've had the league's streaming service for two seasons, and I couldn't be happier with the picture quality and availability. Allows you to start from the beginning of a game or go live, just like MLB's. (I believe...

    Is This Normal ...?

Think the tech set "native" to "on." But I'll look. Thanks.

    Is This Normal ...?

Still have them! :) And the AM-21 too. But those were darn slow, and big. Actually, the main Genie is pretty fast; it's the minis that I have a problem with.

    Is This Normal ...?

Apparently wired; there's a coax cable into the mini box.

    Is This Normal ...?

So I've been back with DirecTV for a week now, enjoying the service, etc. Used to have three HR-2Xs, now the Genie and two minis. But I've noticed that when I turn on a TV that's connected to a mini, I often get a white screen for about 5 seconds before the channel engages. Also have been having...

Did anyone else lose access to their AM21s?

After I re-signed with D* after 2-year absence, I plugged in my AM-21. As expected, didn't show anywhere close to the channels available here OTA, but I was expecting that. But Sunday, it kept hanging up everything and I finally removed it. Of course the hangup could have been my fault...

    DIRECTV NOW LAUNCH

I was very impressed with the PQ on Vue. Unfortunately, they don't have locals in my city, Des Moines, nor do they carry the NHL or MLB channels. If they do, with their cloud DVR service, it would make me think very carefully about dumping cable and not signing up again with satellite.

    We're baaaa-aack

I had queried about CenturyLink some time ago on their website, so they must have taken down my address, because a rep came calling the other night with a Century Link/DirectTV bundle offer. in my neighborhood all I can get from CenturyLink is 12 mbps. I asked about when we would see fiber-optic...

    We're baaaa-aack

Had HR-22s and whole-home when we left, so I'm looking forward to the Genie; sounds a lot like TiVo and mini setup we have now with Mediacom. We did get all-in pricing. Was nice to know that what they said we'd pay was what we'd pay, without added-on fees for additional TVs, HD and DVR charge, etc.

    DirecTV Dispute

That's one reason I decided on DirecTV as opposed to DISH when I recently decided to go back to satellite. DISH has been known to prolong carriage disputes and dark channels far more than DirecTV. And in the end we pay more anyway.

    We're baaaa-aack

Well, after two years of lower monthly bills being bundled with Mediacom, they raised our price to the point where it's no longer advantageous to pay less but get less in the form of unavailable channels (MLB Network, NHL Network, NBA TV, BeinSports), channels with excessive pixelation (NBC...

So I signed up for Charter internet on phone, tech kept pushing TV service. (I like DirecTV period.)

When I stream, ABC On Demand, HBO Now, Netflix, MLB.TV and NHL Centre Ice on Roku, they look like TV. Other channels, like NBC Sports Network, look like highlight reels on film. PQ varies with channel and provider. NBA.TV seems more TV-like on PS Vue than Roku. Why is this so?

Just looked -- only thing there is a fee-for-service box. Other ideas?

    DIRECTV NOW Launching in November!

OK -- didn't see them in the "already announced list" post. Nothing about the NBA, NHL or MLB networks, though?

    DIRECTV NOW Launching in November!

No ESPNs would be a deal breaker. Would also have to have AMC for "Better Call Saul," NHL, NBA and MLB nets, Chicago regional sports, since Des Moines is a solid Chicago sports town, and where are the other news channels?

    DIRECTV NOW Launching in November!

Is this through their Sling box only? DVR not available through other devices, correct?

    DIRECTV NOW Launching in November!

Damn! Went in last week to price AT&T versus what I pay for Verizon -- "the more expensive network." AT&T cost more.

    DIRECTV NOW Launching in November!

Would be VERY interested in DirecTV content without the HD fee, the DVR fee, the additional receiver fee . . .

Why did you choose DirecTV over Dish?

Been very impressed by TiVo with Mediacom. Of course my most advanced receiver with DirecTV was an HR-21. :(

Why did you choose DirecTV over Dish?

Can you not get TiVo with Comcast?

    Directv HR44 vs Mediacom Tivo

All good points. The quality of TV service in my area of Des Moines is quite good. Nothing I can't live with.
