TCM HD is all upconverted? I didn't know. I didn't read every single post in this thread, and get hell for it. I knew it looked soft for HD. The Searchers does have a great HD transfer; I've seen the Blu-ray several times.

It's not an upconvert. The Searchers was shot on 70mm film, which is far higher resolution than HD, so it looks amazing. Even 35mm is usually higher resolution than HD.

From what I've read, all HD channels should be on 99 or 103 at this point. Lyngsat is not always 100% correct. I would think skew would still be necessary, especially since the Ka beam is so much narrower than the Ku.

It loads on my HR20 even when I switch to TWC in the middle of Local on the 8s.

I think they still do; I saw one installed on a roof down the street a couple months ago. BTW, when D* came out to replace my AT9 with a Slimline, they added another monopole. That sucker isn't moving now! :)

They do it because kids channels are the highest rated cable channels. "Spongebob" is the highest rated show on cable TV. :rolleyes: A west feed of the highest rated cable channel will get more viewers than an all-new channel no one has heard of.
