    Do you have a multiswitch anywhere in your old set up? If so it could be your problem. I did a friends install he had a multiswitch in old set up , it was inside a wall so we ran new direct cable run. Bingo we had signal.

    You may want to check with DTV to be sure they will activate a used Box. I have heard they sometimes won't do this.

    "Pixelated," grainy picture

    Door Number 3 folks. I have DTV and Voom, as an example 613 Fox Sports World looks much better on Voom. Less compression, which results in less pixel movement on the green surface of soccer pitches. But Voom channel line up is very shallow.

    Reciever upgrade question

    Yes you can activate it without the HD package, and yes you can use without the Triple LNB. You will just need to switch to the triple when you decide to go HD.
