Go into the new DVR setup menu and check the settings. Maybe the output setting (1080, 720, ect) isn't correct.

I've been leaning towards this scenario also....D* will swap your equipment provided you sign the 2 yr commitment. If your commitment has expired and you want to stay month to month then it'll cost ya. The $250-299 is the first number I've seen mentioned so far. As Charper says....wait n see...

Almost all automated phone systems can be bypassed by pressing 0. Sometimes pressing it repeatedly is needed but that should always get you a live person. :)

There are many posts of people using component output with very little to NO difference in PQ. Why not give it a view? As you point out, you have 30 days to evaluate. If the PQ is acceptable, great and you still switch back when a fix is available. Just my 2 cents.

Sony/Zenith/LG are all top notch, and basically the same units (made by LG). Talk to Robert. He did have some refurbs at one time.

I was thinking along the same lines. I agree the change in equipment type makes it more difficult to use the malfunctioning tuner story.

I'm thinking of swapping out my SD box for a Tivo/DVR. I'll be buying used on eBay or elsewhere and will just be swapping out the SD box. Will D* require a year commitment to get a card and activate the replacement? I've dug thru the web site but can't find any info on this. Thought I ask before...
