Why are there local MeTV ads in the Directv-inserted spots?

I agree, MeTV must have bought ad time. They were pushing it all over Facebook in the Boston area too. I got suggested ads for both WCVB and WMUR.

DirecTV Now to rebrand under AT&T TV family.

I don't take issue with blocking anything, except public access channels. My town's public access, government, and school channels should not be encrypted at all. Public access is just that. But, I digress. My original point about AT&T cable is to see if paying for the service is an option...

DirecTV Now to rebrand under AT&T TV family.

Actually, Comcast had them as digital channels. I can't speak for everyone. When the rules regarding allowing certain access changed, that's when Comcast blocked our access. That was roughly five years ago.

DirecTV Now to rebrand under AT&T TV family.

The workaround the box prices used to be to run the digital cable wire into the back of the TV and you just got digital cable on weird channel locations (sans premium channels, PPV, and On Demand). I had it with Comcast (pay for internet and home phone) with my locals and public access...

AT&T Just Donated $500,000 to Locast

I think it's a means to stick it to the owners of the local channels, as retransmission fees are climbing. Its perhaps leverage to keep customers happy who complain of their bills going up. As it is, Dish has the option for customers to drop the locals and save $12 a month. That's the funny...

I’m so happy with directv I moved from dish to directv

Well that's the end of an era in the Dish forum. Glad you made the choice to go and not get off the pot. At least you know have what you want.

    The End of DIRECTV?

I understand their plan. I just prefer satellite. One main reason is when a storm comes through and the lines are taken down. With my generator, I power up my TV and I'm all set. When cable goes out, my internet goes out. Cell signal in certain areas can be spotty. In my house, everyone...

No longer with DirecTV anymore, Dish was installed today.

I'm still on the Hopper 1, so it's great for me. But, it can still be helpful as it's kind of foolproof. You set it and pretty much forget it.

Makes sense to someone who is not familiar with DirecTV.

My understanding was that the shift was to primarily a streaming version.

Watch any of Luis Rossman's videos on YouTube about repairing Apple products. That, combined with removal of simple accessories (analog headphone jack), and the lack of expandable memory are all enough for me to distrust Apple. I enjoy their software, but their hardware is too purposefully...

I almost switched back to Dish today, but sticking with DirecTV.

Honestly, its expected. It happens in the Dish Forum as well. Some people are competatively loyal to their provider. Others just don't like knowing what they do might not be the best for others. I have a friend like that. If one thing of his setup is not better than everyone else, then he...

I almost switched back to Dish today, but sticking with DirecTV.

So true. It's all preference in programming and equipment. I'm personally with Dish, but will never fault anyone who chooses DirecTV. For sports, DirecTV is second to none. As I only care about my local football and hockey, and Dish has NESN, I'm all set. As I care more about movies, I find...

DirecTV needs to have the McGreggor / Mayweather fight in 4K.

I disagree with an over-zelously expensive PPV fight that can be over in seconds or go a full 12 rounds, going to 4K for an even more exorbant amount. At what point is it an eye gouging?

Directv Now dropping support for Safari, Chrome exclusive in July.

Makes sense. Chrome is the only "mainstream" Web browser that's is available to Windows, Mac, and Linux users...well at least for Ubuntu. I have all three, that's how I know.

DIRECTV Is Starting to Downplay Satellite in Favor of DIRECTV NOW

I can't see AT&T buying Directv to turn and stop distributing by satellite. I can see them begin to push the IPTV platform to new subscribers. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using the SatelliteGuys app!

    Hearst, now Cox Media

Being in the DMA for both WCVB and WMUR, it is funny how the apps on my cellphone are just a national statement with the station ID placed at the beginning. Yet, these companies brag about being "local".
  18. The Fat Man

    Hearst, now Cox Media

I can't see these going dark. Again, as I said in the other thread, losing both ABC and FOX would be bad for Directv (at least in Boston), but with NBC launching their own O&O in the same DMA, on the same day, that's plenty of viewers watching them, WBZ or the soon to be independent WHDH for...

    DirecTV Dispute

Speaking for Boston, Hearst would be foolish to pull WCVB and WMUR the same day that NBC Boston launches its newscast. Obviously, this has nothing to do with national ABC vs NBC programming. Lost ABC is a carrot to dangle against Directv. However, on a local programming front, WBTS will be...

    Directv employees join cwa

Do the Dish call center reps want to be unionized. I'm in a forced union position, and would rather keep my "raping of" union dues. I'm speaking of my situation of corse. My union (as its own entity) is crap, and only cares about its political ties.

DirecTV interface not as good as Dish

I'm late to the party, but I feel that both providers are quite comparable with each other. Being a Dish sub, who visits family with Directv, my only issue is my own fault, and that's being clueless of where certain channels are.

    DIRECTV Adds Oxygen In HD

Allen, I don't know whether to be more shocked that you are posting in the Directv forum, or that you used capital letters. Anyway, good news for the viewers. Thanks for the update Allen!

    DIRECTV Down?

Yes. The gym has monitors on eliptical machines and treadmills, which are served by DTV.

    DIRECTV Down?

It wasn't working at the gym this morning. The eliptical machines had the tech difficulty messages on all channels.

So what happens when the Deathstar takes over Time Warner?

Where's your evidence? People speculated them buying other stations, including WFXT from Cox and WBPX from Ion. But, nothing was ever made certain as options. Fact is, they want a better station. Do you actually think they want worse penertration into Boston-Metro? It's their only current option.
