I am in the process of doing the same thing. I am wondering if you have 2 HDDVR's hooked up on whole house DVR do you actually see 4 things being recorded on each DVR's recording guide? (2 from the one you are looking at and 2 from the other HDDVR that is connected) Thanks, Jeff

I have an HR21 for our HDTV in the living room and a standard box for the SDTV in the bedroom and yes the standard box is faster. Prob about 2X faster changing channels. Jeff

I did get the slimline dish but installer said SWM built in is about 2 months away. I have 4 wires from dish to basement then 1 wire to HDDVR in living room and 1 wire to SD standard reciever in bedroom from there. Jeff

Got the new reciever today and installed it and no more clicking noise! Very happy so far with programming and PQ with Direct. Customer service so far has been flawless. Jeff

If I am not mistaken the hard drive is in operation all the time unless the unit is unplugged. Just rechecked the box - brown cardboard with direct tv emblem on the top left and HD DVR in big black on the bottom. No white box and no blue tape, although that is how the standard reciever...

It came in a standard brown cardboard box with "HD DVR" printed in black on the top of the box. My standard reciever came in a white box. By the way, the unit makes the clicking noise even with the power off. Jeff

Continious clicking noise that is even audible with TV volume turned up. The clicking did stop a couple times during boot-up but ever since it is continous. I think I am going to call it in and see if I can get a replacement. Jeff

Hey guys, I am getting Direct installed today and the installer tells me he is using Directs new technology requiring only 1 wire to the DVR instead of 2 as standard (for dual tuner install). He tells me this is his first install with this type setup. I will let you all know how it goes. Jeff

Are you sure about that? The website states the new promotion is 10 dollars off for 12 months, not 20.

Correction - This does apply in my state - being Colorado. You will have to check your state laws to see if it applies for you. Any State law governing early cancellation will trump Direct TV cancellation policies.

However, I do not believe this applies during the 30 day trial period. If she is not satisfied with the service she should be able to return the equipment at no charge within 30 days. This is a policy with cable and satellite companies. It also applies for cell phone companies.

I'm pretty sure he did not get it for that price. The D sales people are confused about promos and often get the instant 100 off promo (making cost of HDDVR 199) mixed up with 100 off first bill (which is not a valid promo). However the price for the D HDDVR is supposed to go down on 1/10/08...

I do not have a link but I did call 3 different CSR's one being in the referral dept and they all confirmed with their supervisors when I asked if they were sure about this promo. It is a brand new promo. Jeff

Thats not correct. I just inquired about pricing by calling Direct and they are now offering 100 off first bill which brings the 199 down to 99. If you use a referral you can get it down another 50 to 49 bucks. Jeff

Except with Dish the HD DVR IS actually free to new customers. So far D only offers the non HD DVR for free. Jeff
