It's all a matter of bandwidth. You can only shove so many carriers onto a satellite transponder which has a finite number. Directv will not compromise the quality of HD just for the sake of putting up more. Lets wait for the new bird to launch. Of course, that one will be maxed out as well...

The antenna has a 22.5degree offset due to the location of the lnb's, so you may think the dish is looking at an obstruction but it is actually looking over it.

The installer had a number of mounting options available including a non-penetrating roof mount (basically a pole held down by cinder blocks). However given that Florida is prone to high velocity winds (hurricanes, etc.) perhaps he could have gone with a ground mounted pole mount.
