    Skip - Dont wait for it to download. Keep forcing the daily call until it dowloads. It will take about an hour then it will reboot.

    To the best of my knowledge the HDMI issue is a hardware problem. When mine didnt work I shook the card which resulted in picture. This is discussed heavily in the tivo community forums.

    Showtime HD

    Out of all the HD channels directv offers, I'll agree with you that Showtime is the least sharp. Many others call it HD Lite. But is shouldnt be really snowy. I believe Showtime's PQ will improve when football is over.

    Not being able to "skip" over ads is a major benefit I would miss. It wont take too long before Tivo implements a software update to remove our current ability to do this. Hopefully Voom/E* wont do this. Dear Charlie: Can you please hurry up and buy Voom, roll out a DVR. I'll come back!!

    Skip Are you sure it was the TV??. As you may know the HDMI output on the HDTivo is not reliable. Try hooking up a DVD player with DVI output to your TV. Did you try component?

    For the most part I've been very happy with D* HD. There are times when Showtime HD looks fuzzy especially on Sundays, but the other channels are just fine. IMHO, HDNet always has the best PQ. Like looking thru a window

    I've said it before and I'll say it again; IMHO Voom's 2 major benefits are: 1 Its exclusive channels (subjective - some love em some dont) 2. Cinemax & Starz HD I can understand movie buffs want to switch to V* for these reasons. But do the drawbacks outweight the above benefits...

    Yeah I've also posted on tivocommunity where hundreds of others have this problem. It is an inconvenience. But what makes it worse is that D* thinks its an isolated incident and not a widespread hardware defect. That pisses me off.
