    What about us Charter Members!

I realize in advance that trying to discuss this matter rationally is a waste of time, but as far as I can tell, I didn't have a purchase agreement at all (and I did purchase my stb), and, in any case, VOOM was operated not by Cablevision but by Rainbow DBS Company LLC.

    Help With Ota!!

Connect your antenna cable back to the VOOM stb. You should be able to get OTA channels through the VOOM stb.

    OTA and Voom Receivers

A CSR just told me that if you own your stb, it will still work for locals after VOOM shuts down. Since I own mine, I didn't ask about people who rent.

    What about purchased receivers??

This thread is a good illustration of how screwed up our court system is, and I'm a lawyer. I bought my stb, too. I knew the company was a start-up and knew it might not make it. That's the risk of being an early adopter. If you buy an HD DVD player and the format doesn't survive, are you...

    VOOM Web Site is DOWN!!!

The bills I receive have a return envelope, an address where to send payment, and a stub to send with payment. I suspect most of us assume the check should be made out to Voom.

New Channels Added! (BBC, Noggin, etc...)

If you have four premium movie channels in HD, you should consider yourself lucky. Except for VOOMers, few people have that. Of course, if you want lots more, there's VOOM.

Ch. 308: "This channel reserved for future use"

I suspect 302 will be ESPN2HD and 308 will be ESPNU.

Cablevision Enters into Interim Agreement Regarding VOOM

I know some people are unhappy unless they have something to complain about, but this is definitely good news. The Board, which a week ago sent a threatening letter to Dolan, has made a sharp turn and will now work with him "cooperatively to finalize the separation from Cablevision of its...

Flash!!!! There will be no official statement on Monday

If they've reached a definitive agreement, it certainly would be material and they presumably will release it before the markets open tomorrow. If there's no release in the morning, they presumably are still working on the agreement. It does take time. At this moment, there may be lawyers in...

Letter from Inverstors to Chuck: (Voom/Echostar merge?)

We'd have to see the language of the agreement. Since the deal did not include a transition of customers, it's hard to see why E* would care. The continued-service statement may be by way explanation and not actually in the agreement itself.

And they made that decision overnight on Friday night? Seems odd.

    voom.com...Alive!!

Early Saturday morning is a strange time to decide to be courteous. It would have been easy enough to add a message to this website that VOOM is no longer taking new orders, the same message that's been on the website for days. I think you're underestimating the significance of this, but we'll...

    voom.com...Alive!!

It appears to me that it's replicating the site, not redirecting to it. Maybe I'm wrong. Regardless, I don't think this happens in the middle of the night because someone remembers they have to pay a call center. I strongly suspect that it is very, very good news.

Letter from Inverstors to Chuck: (Voom/Echostar merge?)

Tuesday night, when I surveyed the alternatives, I realized VOOM is worthy of worship. It's depressing to think how little HD the rest of the country sees. I consider myself very fortunate to be among the 46,000.

Letter from Inverstors to Chuck: (Voom/Echostar merge?)

My thoughts exactly. Reports Tuesday and Wednesday were that the stumbling block was CVC's potential legal exposure. The CVC/E* contract may require that CVC do nothing to interfere with the sale of Rainbow 1. Dolan may be trying to negotiate a cancellation of the contract. I view this as...

    New Software version 7.37

Got the download last night. Now when I tune to one channel (which has a very strong signal), I see that channel number in the program guide but actually see the signal of another channel. I did a channel scan. Any suggestions?

    Rainbow Spin-off is dead

The analyst didn't say it, and probably didn't think it, but NBC Universal may be a potential purchaser. It would do the deal to get the three cable networks, with VOOM thrown in. It could get VOOM for a lot less than Echostar and then proceed to put Echostar out of business. GE isn't in the...

    Rainbow Spin-off is dead

The good news is that, at least for now, they're not going to just shut it down. "Strategic" normally means merger, as in, they would dump VOOM into a new co in which they would have less than 100% ownership. It could mean, I guess, that a buyer would take VOOM and merge it into the buyer's...

***** Big Big Changes for HD Cinema*****ALL MOVIES in OAR all the time

"I Confess" is on again today, in glorious black and white and glorious 4:3 OAR. My reaction to the movie may be a product of low expectations (it's considered subpar Hitchcock), but I enjoyed it. Pre-accident Montgomery Clift, Anne Baxter, Karl Malden. Good flick.

VOOM Satellite Service to Dramatically Increase to Over 70 HD channels by March 2005

It's a public company, and they released this on the PR newswire knowing it would be viewed by the investment community. In fact, they likely released it after the markets closed because it might affect trading. The cost of putting out false information is quite high, so it's fair to assume...
