This is not an accurate statement.
The Ohio Satellite tax is a tax upon your bill EQUAL TO the State's current sales tax rate. This rate in Ohio is currently 6%, so a 5 dollar service from Voom would equate to 30 cents in Ohio tax.
Personally, I want to choke all the elected officials in...
When ESPN HD is showing SD content, keep in mind that it is 480, only stretched to fill the screen. It would look the same as a CBS newscast or some other SD show otherwise.

More coffee he says! :)
From what I have read and understand, it is HOLLYWOOD who dictates the HD transfer of every movie. In other words, MGM and Universal and UA and WB and all the others provide their own HD transfer for the movie channels to show. It is not HBO or Showtime or Cinemax who...
I had ESPN HD for 8 months and have had INHD for 3 weeks. Believe me when I say that the two INHD channels are more than TWICE the benefit of ESPN HD. AND, I love to watch sports. These channels are gorgeous and have hours and hours of live sports.
In fact, the best MLB game I have ever seen...
Football, college basketball and golf are my favorite TV sports so I have recently discontinued Direct's HD package. There is nothing on ESPN that I really want to watch until August. Hopefully, Voom will have a carriage agreement by then. I had ESPH HD for about 10 months and I really was not...
I have been a member of AVSForum for quite a while, and I can assure you there is lack of pompous asses on there! I guess after a time, you just develop thick skin, because they sure do get the info quicker than almost any other place.
I can get about two channels for my mother-in-law from about 70 miles away. However, unless she erects a taller tower. She uses a channel master, very large antenna and a quality amplifier. Sorry, I can't remember the brand of the amplifier.
A lot of diplexer bashing here and I am not so sure it is founded. My personal experience has proven that a GOOD diplexer will alter neither satellite nor OTA signal quality. These are not subject observations on my part, but provable objective measures read directly from the receiver.
In...
#1 - CONUS
#2 - 39 bucks
#3 - $0 installation and 10 bucks a month STB rental.
#4 - only one receiver at this time.
No reduction from $0 if OTA antenna already installed.
Do the VOOM'ers feel a little bit snubbed for being left out of this weekend's festivities? Both Direct and Echostar are carrying the special events as well as the game this weekend and I was somewhat surprised to see VOOM left out.
I still do not have VOOM because I am in the process of...
Wow, it gets more tempting. However, I just got waivers from WBNS so that Direct is now giving me both the NY and LA HD feeds!
It is pretty nice getting CBS via Direct and from what I hear, FOX will be added shortly. This is obviously a great advantage to me over what VOOM is offering...
I am excited for you all and hopefully, this lessens the blow of the lower priced STB offering.
I just can't imagine what is taking so long with HBO. Do they (HBO) hardball the carriers like ESPN? I travel a lot and it sure seems like HBO is in every hotel room.
ESPN HD is not so much of a joke anymore. 4 to 5 live offerings a week is a good start, imo. Also, Sportscenter will soon be in HD which will add TONS of hours.
When ESPN gets to a point where they will offer one or two events a day, then they will basically control my TV ! :)
I am reading on other forums (AVS) that Voom is now being offered for $399 bucks, installled and with one month free programming.
Can anyone here confirm this or should I just call Voom?
Wow, only two work weeks left and I am still hanging in the balance. What to do, what to do?
Will Voom offer their PVR this summer as an upgrade or will we have to pay full price? I really, really like the concept of their HD PVR as it beats the pants off the competition.
Come on Voom...
