NEW $15 charge from VOOM this month

I did not have any other changes on my CC this month. I think the customer service lines are still open, so you may want to call them and have them clarify the charges. I wish they would go ahead and send the last statement and give us formal notification that the boxes are ours to keep.. :(

Memories! Use this link to go to old Voom Cust Service questions

www.voom.com Archives If you really want to see the old Voom web pages, go to the link below and you will be able to view the pages from www.voom.com from the time the site was first brought up till Nov. 2004. The www.voom.com site looks like that it belonged to an Auto Accessory company...

    Dumb question

Some are expensive and some are not... Here is a link that carries a broad selection of equipment, but there maybe several other companies out there that are more competitive. A cheap one may be the way to go if you are doing a self-install or just want to tweak since they are around 20 bucks...

DISH to carry all 21 in 2006

Thanks JL, I am going to wait at least 6 months to see what E* gets going. If they are able to add all 21, get MPEG-4 out there including a new MPEG-4 DVR and put everything on one dish, then I am in, even if it cost me over $500.00 for installation and DVR lease upgrade. Oh, and the...

Video of VoomDBS going dark last night...

It was very fitting that the last scene is a train going down the track.... since we were railroaded into going to E* if you want to watch 10 of the V* original 21 for right now. :no

    VOOM gone OTA here

That looks to be the Winegard Sensar III. Below is a link to their website. They have all of the technical specs and accessories listed. The part number that you will need is PS-9370 power supply. http://www.winegard.com/offair/sensar.htm

Voom's free switchover offer to Dish far from free...

In the past you had to fulfill your commitment period before you could just get the HD service by itself. So if the commitment is for 1 year or 2 years, then you could not make the change until that time.

DISH to carry all 21 in 2006

Justalurker, do you know if they will move all of the HD over to a Sat. that will be able to be picked up by the Superdish eliminating the need for a second dish to be installed when MPEG-4 arrives? This is why I may wait till MPEG-4 to get E*. I don't really mind the $250.00 DVR upgrade cost...

    VOOM gone OTA here

Stuck the V* receivers in the closet I had OTA here until I unplugged the boxes this morning. I stuck them in the closet for now and hooked up the Cox Cable HD-DVR boxes. :river :river :river I miss V*, but I am waiting to see which way the V* ashes blow before I switch from cable to...

Any New Dish Deals Now That it's May 1?

This saves me a call to E* then. I am just going to stick with Cox Cable HD service for a while and see which way the V* ashes blow. Cox has excellent PQ IMO, and the price is comparable to E* with no up front cost for the HD-DVR. They are promising more HD content in the near...

Voom to disable OTA tuner in STB?

I understand that they will shut everyone down at once. The times listed are 3:00am Eastern which would be Midnight Pacific.

    Anyone unplugging tonight?

I am leaving the only set I still have hooked up to V* plugged in till it goes black. I am interested to see if they leave any Demo channels going promoting the E* deal and Voom 21.

    Whats the rush?

I am writing my letter to Cox tomorrow to at least let them know what is available and that there ARE people who are interested in V* 21 being on cable... If not all at least part of the lineup!

ATTENTION: Voom Forum will be here & Open!!!

Thanks Sean and Scott for giving us all of the insight into what was going on with V* for the last few months. I think I am just going to enjoy my HD service from Cox Cable for a couple of months and see if any other providers pickup some, if any, of the the V* 21. I am still going to hang...

It's Official - VOOM ON DISH NETWORK!

One of the reasons I don't want to jump on the E* HD-DVR bandwagon and fork out $250.00 for the privilege of leasing the box is that I purchased a Dishplayer 7100 back in 2000 that was the biggest piece of junk I have ever seen. I begged and pleaded with E* to give me something different, but...

It's Official - VOOM ON DISH NETWORK!

I totally agree Shawn. It is not a matter of "If you cant afford to play the game...get a pair of rabbit ears." It is a matter of not wasting our money for something that may be obsolete in less than 6 months! Who is to say if the 942 cannot be upgraded to MPEG 4 that E* won't charge us...

It's Official - VOOM ON DISH NETWORK!

Well I called the new number and unless something changes on Sunday, the only free DVR they are offering is the SD DVR! I told him that offering ex-Voomers a SD DVR was a slap in the face!! So this means that they are not going to do anything "special" for us unless that changes on...

It's Official - VOOM ON DISH NETWORK!

Maybe E* figures they have caused Voomers around $250.00 in pain and suffering for taking Rainbow-1 away from us and figure they should give us a break. :D I really don't believe it either, but I will call on the special line they have setup for us Voomers on Sunday and see if there really...

It's Official - VOOM ON DISH NETWORK!

So maybe 40,000 V* subs are important enough for E* to care about and do a special offer for Previous Voomers. :D I will be calling on Sunday as well, and if there is a FREE 942 DVR upgrade as part of the package, then I will breakdown and go to E*. :yes

All 10 VOOM Channels on Echostar will be on 61.5!

Sean, so you are saying that the West Coast feed will be on 148? I have switched to cable, but with no commitment I may go ahead and get E* installed now.

Dolan Backs Off Plan to Shrink CVC Board

I just don't get this statement that was reportedly made by Malone: "Malone has said that even though Voom might have had an edge in focusing on high-definition TV channels when it was launched in 2003, that advantage faded as the much bigger satellite and cable TV incumbents moved to add...

    Attention VOOMers switching to cable!

Excellent! I am going to Cox here in Phoenix until something better comes along, and it will be nice to be able to visit these forums and discuss our feelings about our cable companies until the day arrives when we have a better choice for High Def programming. :yes

    VOOM Shutdown Update

Well, I guess this is good news but I already have cable hooked up on one of my HDTV's and have left the other till V* goes black. I am looking forward to hearing what the news on Friday is all about though. :what
