I think if voom is going out of business it'd be decent of them to upgrade the firmware so OTA will work permanently w/o auth. That'd be a nice thing to do for the customers, esp. the ones that bought instead of renting. That's assuming of course that they won't bother collecting the receivers.

Has anyone successfully hooked a Voom box to a LCD monitor via DVI, like the Apple Cinema HD? Or is it different kind of DVI?

I get them both, but notice they take a little longer to tune to than the other channels. Don't know what that means, though

yes, I get the 1 sec blackout on TNT, and yes to the lockup requiring reboot.

confirmed. hidden locals come back after reboot. ditto the "quick settings". On related note, the lockup-when-changing-channel problem I reported earlier MAY be related to callerID. I disabled it and haven't seen the problem since.

I should add all 3x this happened I keyed in ch# directly, which is my normal way.

I would reset the box except last time I did that it took like 30 hrs (I kid you not) for the guide to populate.

last I checked, you can only see what you're subscribed to currently. Can't change anything.

that's one thing I like about d* hd receivers. not only does the ota works, you can get the pg if you still have it hooked to the dish. no need for subscription.

I have no dvi input. It's component.

does anyone else see a white dot that pop up on the screen at random places and go away in a second? this happens a lot on cinema1-10 and monster. May happen on other channels too but the movie channels have lots of dark scenes so the white dot is more noticeable.

some think it makes a difference. many think it's for suckers who think "I paid $5000 for the TV; why go cheap for the cables?". Personally, I think it's an emperor's new clothes thing.

I saw the 1st statement like a month after I signed up. They charged the CC way before that. If I wanna know what they're charging me, I go to the amex web site and log in to see my acct. I don't depend on voom.
