    I want VOOM but I can't?

The main reason a Sat company wants your STB to be hooked up to a Land Line phone is for Multiple STB signal theft pertection. You could order the Voom 3 for $1 deal. After the install you could give the other two STB's to two of your friends/relatives and the threee of you could split the...

How can I tell what is really in HD?

Good point Sean. I think my statement still holds true for most modern movies, 1970's and later, but you are correct, alot of the old clasic movies may have black side bars and still be HD transfers!!

How can I tell what is really in HD?

Usually on the movie channels you can tell if a movie is in HD when it displays as 16x9 or letterbox mode. When the movie displays as 4x3 with black bars on the side it is usually just upconverted SD, the main exception to this rule is ESPNHD which will show sports center this way, and TNTHD...

    Satellite Signal Strength?

A signal strengh of 96 is very good. I live in Pennsylvania and have had VOOM, DirecTV, and DishNetwork and all of them had good signal strengths of 94 to 98% on clear days. But this is satalite folks, during a heavy T-Storm or heavy snowfall you will loose your signal for a few minutes until...

Will Locals work on a projector?

Rob, I also have an InFocus ScreenPlay 4805, even though this projector is 480p (ED) and not a true HiDef device, the HD VOOM channels look great on it, way better then DVD's. I have my voom box hooked up to the Component input of the 4805, and the picture is perfect with default settings on...

Don't want a tech; roofers push. dish off Line of Sight; help

Since you are already getting a signal of around 75% you are close, just need to fine tune it. There are two ways. 1. Go to Radio shack type electronics store and pick up a cheap Sat signal strength meter ( 25-50 bucks). or 2. Have someone in the house look at the...

How to use VOOM's 61.5 dish with DishNetwork service

If your current Dish Network sat dish uses legacy LNB's and switches you can integrate the current voom sat dish into your current Dish Network sat dishes. If your current Dish Network sat dish uses DPLNB's (dish pro) and DP switches (dish pro, ie... DP34, DP21) you will not be able to...

Using Dish Network Dish for Voom

Usually dish looks at 110* and 119* birds for main service, and Super dish's may look at 3rd bird for locals at 105* or 121*. Dish also uses a bird at the 61.5* location (This is the same bird that VOOM uses) to offer some forien language programs and CBS HiDef channel out of NYC. If you...

Yes, i have this pblm also. Some shows are off by 1/2 second, but some i have tried to watch are off by as much as 2 seconds (which makes them unwatchable IMHO). The strange thing is if i unplug the VOOM STB for 5 minutes and then plug it back in, one time this fixed the sync problem, and...

    Voom and ReplayTV

I used a RCA Ultimate TV recorder when I had direct TV service in the past. 1. I am assuming that this solution will not allow you to watch one show and record another because the Voom IRD only has one sat tuner? 2. I miss not be able to record so i am seriously thinking of giving this a...
