You should expect better results than I got, though you'll pay more b/c there is more to do. My colors were all pretty good out of the box, but black level performance (which digital sets have trouble with anyway) was poor but is now excellent. Almost as good as CRT. I feel it was worth the...

Already got it done. Sorry :( . Although I didn't use him, the guy's name was Steve Martin out of Dallas. He's very well regarded, and will travel to Lubbock. I think his company is called Smart Calibrations. Good Luck.

I've got DirecTV, and several times today snow has knocked out my signal. Watch out for snow accumulation on dish.

I'm going through ABC pains also. My digital ABC is just too inconsistent. I'm having to watch college games OTA-analog, and it's terrible with an indoor antenna. But all I need it for is college football and MNF. The only other thing I watch that I can't get digitally is Enterprise, and I...

Weather is killing my OTA-CBS. They've gone digital; no more analog upconvert. But even with a strong signal, I'm getting macro-blocking during storms. No problems with others, but I finally installed a rotor, so it does the work. Still can't get ABC consistently, even with rotor. It's just...

    VOOM Subscribers By Region

As an Okie living in Texas, I have 2 things to say. First, Oklahoma is not in the SW. Second, Texas is Texas. The folks here consider the state a region unto itself.

I have now actually lost the ABC signal, and evewn the NBC has been a little dodgy. You could use a splitter and send one to your TV and one to your Voom STB, but this will hurt your signal strength. I had an old pair of rabbit ears, and I hooked it up to the TV to get ABC and UPN. The only...

I have started to very clearly receive CBS and ABC since the software update. Before, I never had received any signal from ABC and only intermittent from CBS. However, NBC has become spotty along with having lost PBS. I don't care about PBS b/c all it is is a HD demo channel anyway, and NBC...

Just let me know what you decide. I'm still waiting to hear from Steve, so no hurry. I don't care much about ABC. But no HD-CBS so no HD-CSI makes me feel like I'm missing a big part of the shared HD experience.

z71, just PMed you. I live near Quaker and Soth Loop. My problem is multipath. Just can't find sweet spot. I never have gotten ABC, and used to get FOX and NBC consistently, but can't anymore. I'm in an apartment on the ground floor, so I can't get vertical with antenna.

Are any of you considering having an ISF calibration done? Steve Martin of Dallas will fly out to Lubbock, but his travel costs must be covered. He is highly regarded by posters from hometheater spot and avsforum. His website is www.smartcalibration.com If anyone's interested in his...

In my experience, the only 2 channels you can hope to get are Fox and NBC. I live 4 miles from the ABC and CBS tower, but only get a very unreliable CBS. It's just that ABC and CBS digital are very low power. Just keep moving the antenna around if NBC and/or Fox are the problem. If you get...

Yeah, Cox PQ is awful. They've run out of bandwidth, so they're over-compressing. The PQ issues with Voom are more in comparison to D* and E*

Voom Install - A bust. Thanks Voom.

I'm very jealous. I have thought about getting Star Choice or BEV. I already get 2 HD networks and the other 2 are not coming anytime soon, but I still can't bring myself to lay-out what they want for an HD receiver for only 2 channels. Although I am also intersted in seeing Canada's night...

I'm suprised you can't get Fox. PBS isn't mapped right now, and you won't get it until manual scanning is available. Did you use a preamp? Other than upgrading the antenna, you may have to adjust your antenna until you find a sweet spot. Good luck.

You'll need flat coaxial cable if you can't drill holes. You need to get them yourself, as the installer won't have them. Don't worry about the length, because the tech. can barrel them with standard cable. Read the FAQ here about prepping for your install. Good luck.

    Received New Upgraded Dish Today

Yeah, I knew you were an upgrade. I was thinking more along the lines of this being the standard dish everyone gets from now on. Still, they'll have to come out and give you a new LNB. But at least your're half way there.

    Received New Upgraded Dish Today

Makes sense they're giving new installs the right antenna. It would have been a waste to install an 18" for only 3 months or so. If you can, I'd also like to see a picture of your installed dish.
