Be real careful covering the whole dish in foil. I and my daughter made a couple of solar cookers with dishes smaller than that one and at the focal point it could boiI water, burn wood, etc, real fast too.

Montana is coming in fine here but for the last few days ive had pixelation on all the other PBS channels. I'm using a 76 cm fixed dish, which usually is fine unless it's raining.

I have one of those sat finders and it's kinda wonky. Sometimes it works good, sometimes it doesn't work at all. My FS1 meter died and I bought that to use until I fixed my FS1. I liked that it uses a phone for an interface, but the menus we're a bit clunky and it just wasn't reliable. :(...

The 3500 quality bar is pretty much useless, mine would read the same as yours is, lower on some sats and normal on others, in comparison to other receivers I have. Example, my 3500 might show 35 Q on a certain transponder but then if I'd hook up my MicroHd, it would read 80 Q on the same...

That does look like a DS2076. On my DS2076 dish, when I had a motor on it, I just took the bottom bolt out and installed it backwards to have enough room for the proper setting. I think it's still on backwards now even though the motors long gone. I'll try and remember to take a picture of it...

On my Slimlines, 95W and 97W are the easiest satellites to get. I've never been able to lock anything on 125W with a Slimline dish, transponders will scan in, but no lock on channels.

If you use shiny foil for the reflector, you should probably paint it to make it not reflect sunlight. A shiny surface will focus the sun's rays and burn whatever is in the focal point. Great project and welcome to Satellite Guys!

Whenever there's a storm here I just take a broom out and gently brush the snow off all the dishes here when it gets heavy enough to affect reception. We rarely have ice to deal with here though, a broom would be useless for ice.

I use a First Strike 1 meter, it's old, but works good. Rugged too, I've dropped it a million times and it still works

Sorry, John! The receiver was delivered yesterday with no problems! :biggrin I haven't had too much time to play around with it yet, but I did set it up and program in 101W c band, scanned in channels there. It has real nice picture quality, really nice receiver:) Thanks Bpalone and KE4EST!
