to my wife... Why we can't receive FTA on a 18" dish. I have tried to explain this to no avail. She is not a fan of 'BUD's (Big Ugly Dish) sitting in the yard. :)

I know a lot of people having issues with the last W$ update. All of them have had to 'roll back'. I work with computers/software for living, it's not any easier even with all the techie tools that I have. If you do find the 'all in one' box, let us know. I'd jump on that as well.

Does anyone use a software to locate satellites? I've seen a couple out there that look interesting. I was just curious if anyone here uses it as I've not seen it mentioned in the threads.

Just as a sanity check, Strength of 88 & Quality of 98 is pretty good, right? Not understanding why I'm not getting NASA, ION or Angel one. I can only see the Info station.

I'm a hands on guy, I have to see it before I buy it, especially when dealing online. I've searched 'local electronic stores' but have not found any that have FTA receivers in stock. They either don't know what I'm talking about or they say they can order one. I'd like to know if anyone knows...

I did find on another site the same issue that I am having. The way 'around it' is to turn off the receiver, open FTlink, select update, pick the file and (at the same time) click open & turn on the reciever. Sound crazy & i tried it several times. DID NOT WORK! anybody need a doorstop?

is there a way to check the receiver to see if the serial port on the back is 'active'? using FTLink 3.4, setup to COM 1, shows 4 options for upgrading upgrade 1 = hardware version error upgrade 2 - update msg, then hardware version erro upgrade 3 - hardware version error upgrade 4 - sits...

after 2 botched attempts I was able to make a ethernet to serial cable (crossover). But I am still getting 'connection error' when I try to update/connect the reciever. Makes me think there is something not setup right. Very fustrating... :(
