    Alphastar satellite dishes after termination

The AlphaStar dish is very well suited for Ku-band. My first encounter with AlphaStar was an FTA receiver tuned to receive Chinese programming and GlobalStar in the 1990s and 2000s.

    Dish Reflectors - non-metal?

I'm very suspicous of this. It's usually embedded inside the plastic of the dish. I own a couple of this kind of dishes. I would think any sort of paint coating would not work reliably and it would be embedded, instead.

    Identify UBL's satellite receiver

His on-screen channel grid is way better than my Fortec Lifetime Ultra which I always kinda suspected was a clone. I got it with a Winegard 36" off "Overstock.com" of all places.

    Need help with motorized FTA

If you're using an off-brand or cloned H-H motor the metal mounting brackets may be soft or stamped incorrectly. I peak at east, west, and true south. It will take a while to get it right. The tricky part is to get the elevation of the dish and the motor set up correctly. The article that...

    Identify UBL's satellite receiver

What kind of satellite receiver is UBL using? You can see blurry on-screen menus and a blurry shot of the unit. Pentagon releases videos of Osama bin Laden I'm still a little puzzled why anyone takes a home video of someone watching television.

    G15 troubles

I can't believe it woke up finally. Was "safe mode" supposed to take this long? I can't imagine that's what it was supposed to do like all the news outlets are saying. Sounds to me like Orbital is playing "safe face" with "safe mode."

    Audio services on FTA Ku-band

Thanks again. I'm have no shortage of FiOS channels even with pointless URGE gone. I am just happy to enjoy the FTA hobby, from multi-LNB 36" dishes to motorized monstrosities and multiple DiSEqC switches I miss it but with so much scrambled it just became not so practical anymore. Thanks for...

    Audio services on FTA Ku-band

Thanks for all the information. I don't have a lack of audio--I have FiOS which has two huge groups of audio channels, plus I have both Sirius and XM satellite radios. I am looking at restarting my FTA hobby, and thanks to you all for the information!! Looks like I need an AC3 receiver, too...

CONTEST - Enter to Win: GEOSATpro DVR1100c w/15GB HDD, 90cm Dish - Complete System

Fall move to a house with a satellite dish It was the fall of 1986 and we were moving in a new house. It was way deep in the sticks of upstate New York, about seventy-five miles from the city. Cable TV would not hit this area for years, so many of the houses had satellite dishes. My...

    Audio services on FTA Ku-band

I originally installed my Ku-band system for some excellent music services. I haven't used it in a few years even though it's staring at me from my deck railing. I used DiSH Network music for a few years and now don't have DiSH service anymore so I'm looking at re-activating my Ku-band dish...

The video part of White Springs is there to help local stations tune the audio programs. That's the reason for the huge FEC on that channel.

    Old Equipment Info Needed

I searched high and low and only found a couple of pictures. I'm pretty sure I know someone with one on the roof of a townhouse, but I cannot see the roof. I only know that because I saw the manual and the analog receiver they were using to get CCTV-4 before they went digital.

Building a 1.2 meter dish with 2° Spacing

That's really awesome. Hey, SatelliteAV, are you reconsidering the monoblock option? I recall there were production quality issues that made you guys decide against producing a monoblock.

    AMC 21

I've used most all of the multi-brackets, even the SatelliteAV dual with ultra-micro LNBFs and the best I've gotten is 4 degrees on a 76cm dish. I still haven't set up my 100cm dish, but I did manage to procure a shipping pallet for it to sit on while I tinker. This was 3 years ago, however. A...

    CCTV leaving G3 soon

At the moment, the Great Wall package from DiSH Network carries all the regional/provincial channels. CCTV E&F is actually Espanol and French. There is no English on that channel. CCTV 9 is English as you said. I might suspect that CCTV and the provincial channels are not going to give you...

Poll: T90 dish or dish on a motor?

I like motorized dishes for some key reasons. The most important reason is that I like to change my system around alot. With the Toroidal dish I will spend a couple of weekends, get it perfect, and then be tempted to break it down again. That is a big amount of work. I like the motorized and...

    LNB for Winegard 2076

I use the mini-bullet LNBF from SatelliteAV. It is amazing and impossibly small. It comes in both Universal and Single models, and you can use the 4-degree bracket with your 2076 and some hardware. The 2076 was my first FTA dish and it is still the best. Here is the link: LNBFs -...

Can this LNB pick up 118.7/119

Yes, unless they are outside the United States. Circular in that band is not a domestic allocation. The one DISH Network uses, from what I've read at the FCC, is a Canadian allocation.

    took the plunge today

I am compelled to bump the thread to sing the praises of the cheap analog meters. Since the birds are co-located it's often enough to use the cheapie meter with the antenna aiming screen on your receiver. The trick I always use is to turn down the sensitivity so the tone goes away, then move...

    Muzak no longer FTA?

Oh, the Beethoven estate is still taking payments? Sorry, couldn't resist! :) The first time I saw an iPod Nano plugged into a charging dock and then plugged into the music jack of a small office PBX I nearly lost my mind at the elegant simplicity. They used to go through CD players about...
