What is the best HDFTA box out there right now?

One box... this Pansat 9200 is nice. No 4:2:2 but everything else works pretty well. Blind scan speed is upped from the 2500/2700 generation and it seems to catch most everything it should. It's really nice to run a blind scan and actually be able to tune the HD feeds. Bugs? Yep they all...

    Dreambox DM500-S

You can have all that gadgetry.. it's still a piss poor FTA box with a weak tuner, weak power supply for motor, and no blind scan.

Blind scan perfomance- Coolsat 4000 vs Traxis 3500

Hello, Has anyone compared the above receivers side by side? I'm looking at getting a 3500. How does it compare to the 4000 in terms of speed and accuracy? Does the 3500 have predefined scan range options? Thanks :)

    Coolsat 8000?

How can you "guarantee" the 8000 will not "decode" high defintion MPEG2 signals? Have a look at the Quali-TV 1080IR... this receiver is capable of SAT HD.

Sound Quality of DishNetwork Music Channels

Easy on the citizen's arrest there Gomer.. :) more than enough radio is ITC for the question to be legit. And yes I think the use of the digital out makes for better sound quality.

    Nextorm database?

It looks like you can swap the sattplist.dat file but I don't think we can edit it easily with anything other than the dvbworld utility itself. I also use dvbdream with the dvbworld box which allows use of the easier to edit .ini transponder files.

Power Scan Issues with Fortec Mercury II...

I'm seeing the same pattern as you are IA6. I'm not impressed at all with this receiver's scanning ability and accuracy. It completely misses some of the hottest signals up there- some you mention and others like ONN on SBS6 and it misses them using the highest level of detail you can set...

Has the Fortec Mercury hit the street yet?

I guess the "II". I didn't pick up on the other not being available til next month.

Has the Fortec Mercury hit the street yet?

Looking forward to reports on this receiver, especially tuner sensitivity and blind scan speed. Anyone using one?

    Fortec Star Lifetime Classic NA

Can you give an idea of blind scan times at 12 Mhz steps and 4 Mhz increments? Maybe scan AMC5, then a more populated satellite like IA5. Is there a channel editor available for this model?

    Viewsat VS2000 Platinum Blind Scan

VS2000 from Viewsat does not have blind scan/power scan. Not sure why it is advertised as having it. I bought one because it was advertised as having this feature and I figured with the revved up hardware it would be faster than the receivers on the market.

Is there an easy way to install a Twin Universal LNBF on a Primestar dish??

I cut away a section of the plastic housing on the bottom and top of the throat just ahead of the feedhorn. The diameter of the exposed metal throat fit the P* bracket much better and it matched the focal point of the original * lnb. Yeah and cut a section of hose clamp and use the same...

    Finding AMC-6???

Try using 11839 Vertical with a symbol rate of 25320. This is a data carrier but will register signal and quality for aiming purposes.

    KPBI is scrambled

Iceberg- That was just my opinion not a shot at you at all. I as much as anyone appreciate your involvement here. However when it comes to the public posting debate you probably know where I stand. :)

    KPBI is scrambled

The cynics among us might find something fishy about a representative of a broadcaster gauging interest in a particular service. Service gets encrytped.. hmm. Then again touting a semi-work around for Sunday Ticket using this now encrypted service among others might not have been a good...

    Coolsat 4000 Pro 1.3 Firmware

I now have audio on all the channels you listed WTP. For some reason I did not have to horse the PBS channels. They automatically worked off my initial scan. So did ImagineAsia, but the the two spanish stations (KAMT and KEYU) did not. Notice how the Coolsat reports the PIDs on AC3...

    4:2:2(what all do i need)

You'd still need a card, the twinhan suggestion works just fine. VLC is a media player along the lines of Windows Media player. TSReader is powerful tool for analyzing the stream. Another suggestion to pair with a Twinhan would be DVB Apps. . I use this with a Broadlogic 2030 card...

    Coolsat 4000 Pro 1.3 Firmware

Thanks- I think that was I meant to say. :) I can't remember whether or not I have seen PBSHD use 5.1 or if it had always been a ProLogic signal.

    Coolsat 4000 Pro 1.3 Firmware

I didn't do any force feeding of PIDs. Fresh scans brought audio on those you listed WTP. Not sure about the spanish services, be interesting to see what others get. The good news is those looking for audio at least on the PBS mux should be good to go.

    Coolsat 4000 Pro 1.3 Firmware

Getting ProLogic from Imagine Asia on G10R yes. My only other frame of reference for 5 channel audio would be PBSHD.. just checked the Quali and the current program on PBSHD is running ProLogic also so I can't tell whether or not the Coolsat would pass the multichannel signal. Remember, AC3...

    Coolsat 4000 Pro 1.3 Firmware

UPS man was right on time. :hungry: Blind scan is really a step up from the Ultra. Faster and it ignores the data transponders that usually gave the Ultra fits. I believe I also saw mention that the AC3 was not working.. well I can tell you it's loud and clear here, my 6 year old is...
