    What Happened to Everybody?

I had moved and couldn't set up my dishes until this year, and when I did, I realized that my view of the southern sky was limited. I still enjoy reading about other people's successes and finds, though. And I would very much like to get confirmation in early spring of where my view is. I...

Win a 2 LNB Add On Bracket Bundle for Ku Dish w/Amiko LNB and Pansat 4x1 DiSEqC Switch!

At my current abode, I have a Wife Acceptance Factor to consider, so that means minimal equipment. Unfortunately, we were hit by hail a few weeks ago, and I'm waiting for an insurance adjuster. If we're getting a new roof, that means that there will be no satellite signals for a bit, BUT, I...

Win a 2 LNB Add On Bracket Bundle for Ku Dish w/Amiko LNB and Pansat 4x1 DiSEqC Switch!

My first dish, which I still have, was a Globecast 75cm elliptical.I didn't know how to aim a dish then and it was really frustrating, but I kept at it, and got help from the community here. When the receiver started showing a blip and I got close, it was really exciting to know that I found...

I just fried my meter, didn't I? Time for a new one?

Thanks, FTA4PA! I explained what happened to my wife, and she asked me where we could go to buy another. I would wager there isn't a store within 100 miles that stocks such a thing.

I just fried my meter, didn't I? Time for a new one?

Excellent suggestion. I just tried another piece of known good cable and there's no change. Meter is toast, I guess. New one will be coming soon enough, and I must remember to use connectors with it that screw together instead of the quick-connect sleeve style. In terms of problems, this...

I just fried my meter, didn't I? Time for a new one?

I looked at the price of the Edision Mio+, and decided that it was out of the budget at this point. I ordered a replacement WS-6933 this morning from an ebay seller for a couple of reasons--price, already knowing how to use it, and now I'll have a spare battery for it. The project continues...

I just fried my meter, didn't I? Time for a new one?

Hmmm...I am admittedly not up on current receiver trends. I don't have a smartphone, but I do have an ipad 6th generation. Is it possible to use that ipad with the Mio+?

I just fried my meter, didn't I? Time for a new one?

I was just on the roof trying to tune with my Satlink WS-6933, and the piece of coax I was using fell off the LNB. I turned off the meter, reattached, and the Signal strength was at zero. I attached to five other known good LNBs, and got the same results. Is it toast? And if it is, what's...

Switch advice needed, please - 103/99 multi-room setup

Thanks for all the input. I ordered the Eagle Aspen recommended by iBoston. Hoping to start running some coax this weekend for when it arrives!

Switch advice needed, please - 103/99 multi-room setup

I have been away from the hobby for a couple of years. Bought a new house in 2020 and it took some time to do some site surveying and to get wife approval. When we were looking for a house, I was really hoping for a place with a good view of the southern sky and ability for C-band. Alas, it...

    PBS MUX down on 125W?

It's coming in just fine here in Central Pennsylvania. Using a 90cm with a PLL LNB, and SQ on my MicroHD wavers from 67 to 72.

    Signal loss over coax. Solution?

Whoo-hoo! Went back up, redid the cable, and found a sweeter spot to aim that I just couldn't find before. 91 at 9.0dB, and 87 at 6.9db. I am happy! I'd had a dedicated 76 cm for just 91, and I think that can have a new purpose.

    Signal loss over coax. Solution?

Sigh. I got home early today and decided to redo the connector up on the roof. I did fine adjustment too while I was up there, getting 6.9 dB on 87 and 6.0dB on 91. Went downstairs and there is zero Q and no lock. Which is worse than last night. Sigh. Either I screwed up the end, or this...

    Signal loss over coax. Solution?

Cable is Tappan, which I'd bought at Home Depot. Last night I put a new end (I don't know what brand--Ideal, maybe?) on the basement end of the cable, but it made no difference. I will try to get back up to the roof tonight and do a new end up there. I'm trying to reconfigure the farm a bit...

    Signal loss over coax. Solution?

Yes -- it is marked as CCS. I never noticed that before. I have lots of it in use, but this is the only one that has given me any problem. Longest run would still be less than about 50 feet. I'll put new ends on what is already there, and see if that makes a difference. If not, I guess...

    Signal loss over coax. Solution?

Hi, folks. Well, I've been working on the dish farm a little bit. I have a 90cm on the roof, and it's for 87 & 91. To date, I only had the 87 tuned in, since I didn't get the time to dedicate to the dual LNB. I'm using a Geosatpro 4 degree kit, and the matching bullet LNBs with two outputs...

Directv slimline dish... any use for it?

I have a Slimline for 95W as well, and I suspect many of us have done that kind of experiment. I am intrigued by that LNB in the ebay link, though. It would have made my job a lot easier. Thinking out loud here...would the news feeds on 91 be possibly achievable on a Slimline?

Which new receiver with specific features?

The MicroHD's coax jack was a bit loose, and today, it finally broke. I may try to solder it, even though I'm far from an expert, because I figure I have nothing to lose. I had been using it successfully for years, even driving an SG2100 and a 90CM on it. Nothing lasts forever, though, right...

Which new receiver with specific features?

My venerable Micro HD has died. It's time for a new one. It seems that the Linkbox 9001i and the Manhattan 1978 are currently good choices. Is there a respected receiver that has ability to: Import channel list, such as custom channels on 103 Audible tones for aiming and tuning dishes...

Dish farm work, and envy, at 40.3 / -76.9

X squared, actually. It's a cheap receiver thrown into a big lot of fta stuff I got a while back. I never really played with it until now. Sent from my SGH-T999 using the SatelliteGuys app!

Dish farm work, and envy, at 40.3 / -76.9

Amazing. This is on a X7 or something like that box. Same dish settings. It's there, but it is breaking up slightly every few minutes. I have been considering a new receiver. Perhaps this is the time. Sent from my SGH-T999 using the SatelliteGuys app!
